If you think it gets better than mini corn dogs, you're wrong. My wife and I went here during a weekend visit to Cleveland. We were seated right away, and there weren't many people in the restaurant for a Saturday night which should have been a tip to us that maybe it's not very good. Anyway, our waitress was quick to get our drink order and appetizers. We got the mini corn dogs. They were pretty good, albeit just average corn dogs...nothing special. I ordered corned beef and cabbage and my wife ordered shepherds pie and a Caesar salad. When the meals arrived the waitress set the corned beef in front of me and it didn't look appetizing at all. It was swimming in about a cup and a half of liquid. It was accompanied by a sad looking wedge of cabbage and some unseasoned potatoes and carrots. The corned beef was very tough and fatty and did not have much flavor. If it was not for the horseradish I probably would not have been able to muscle down even one slice. The shepherds pie didn't look very good either, and my wife said it was the consistency of chili. We got our check and the meal was very overpriced for the quality. The kicker, though, is that I paid with cash and the waitress never returned with my change and had apparently assumed that I was giving her the remainder of my cash as a tip. She also proceeded to not say anything else to us, no "thanks" or "have a good night" on the way out...nothing. The service was not bad overall but I was not intending on leaving as much as she basically stole for a tip. Will not return. Would...
Read moreI've never posted a review before until mine and my girlfriend's poor experience at Flannery's.
We arrive and are seated by the hostess then greeted by our waitress who manages to drop menus on our table twice during our time there. We order an appetizer of chicken wings, my girlfriend had a main course of "bangers and mash" while I had a brie and bacon sandwich.
I took around 25 minutes for the appetizer to come out despite it not being that busy there. The wings tasted good but we later found out that the 6 wings we had cost $15 which is an outrageous price for chicken wings. I could go across the street and get those same wings for 1/5 of the price.
The main course didn't come out too much later, maybe at the 35 minute mark, when our waitress plates my meal to my girlfriend, and vice versa. Not that big of a deal. My sandwich was completely coated in cheese and looked rather sickening. It didn't taste very good either. My girlfriend's sausages were very tasty but the mash potatoes were rather bland and the vegetables plated with them tasted and looked like they came from a frozen bag. Neither one of us finished our meal. The bill came out, we paid cash, and the waitress gave us the wrong change and in Canadian currency. The only redeeming factor is the sausages because they were quite tasty but everything else was a massive...

I didn't really get a full experience of the place, just a brief and bad one. Stopped in for a couple beers before the Tribe game with friends. The bar was packed but there was plenty of tables, and a few near the bar. The hostess was ignoring us so we ordered drinks at the bar and sat close to the door. Ten minutes later a waiter came over to lecture us about not being seated properly and waiting for someone to take our order. Then, without even offering a menu or more drinks, he sped off shaking his head. If the hostess is too busy to be bothered with us, how are we supposed to know?
Months later, I'm editing this after trying some food. I decided that first thing i should order off an Irish pubs menu should be their pub food. Fish and chips it is! The fish was delicious, but quickly ruined by the excessive grease on the dish, which made the second piece soggy. The potato discs were.... potato discs...I can't complain much, but who really compliments yet another fried potato? As for the kale coleslaw... Now that was an oversell! I'm not sure what kale coleslaw is supposed to taste like, but plain, raw, shredded kale and cabbage???? It's just garnish! Not a great way to spend $14.
Oh, make that $30 since two pints of GL Dortmunder cost...
