A friend and myself specifically chose to go to Margaritaville on Monday for lunch following the BROWNS Win to honor one of our favorite singers Jimmy Buffett. RIP 🦜We both are also in the restaurant business. We were completely and utterly appalled!!! I have never written a review for a restaurant in my life. But this was necessary. Upon arrival, there was no employee anywhere. When the gentleman finally approached, we politely asked if we could sit outside. And he said “well whatever you want” in a snarky kind of way. It was as if we were bothering him and annoying him. That set the tone. There was maybe seven people in the entire restaurant eating… So by no means were they at all busy or overwhelmed. When the server FINALLY got to our table, She was just as rude and uncaring as the man who sat us. You do realize you are a restaurant??? And we are coming to YOUR house to eat. Would you treat your guests like that if they came to your own home?.. I don’t think so. My friend asked for her salad to be brought out before her meal…. Which never happened until I had to go track somebody down in the restaurant which took about five minutes. When she finally brought the salad WITH our meal, she said in a sarcastic kind of way, I don’t know why the salad wasn’t brought out… Are you kidding me. You’re the one we told!! Obviously she wasn’t listening and again, I don’t even know why she showed up for work. Because it was clearly evident that was the last place she wanted to be. A piece of advice, if you don’t want to work in that industry… Don’t work in that industry! There was no silverware or salt and pepper when our food finally came out. And before we could say anything she walked away. So once again I have to go track her down. I again could not find anybody in the restaurant. I also asked for mayo on the side for my sandwich. Once again, had to get up and go track somebody down. Once again feeling like I am completely bothering them while they are getting paid to do nothing. The fries were completely cold… How can they be cold when nobody was in the restaurant eating… But maybe a handful. Ridiculous. He did bring out hot fries and didn’t take the cold ones… So it looked like I had a mountain full of fries that I was never even going to eat at this point. My friend maybe had two bites of her fish tacos… That were burnt and disgusting. And again let me remind you we are in the restaurant business. When the server came to give us our checks, she never asked why we barely touched our food. Because she didn’t care!!!! It’s sad that those two employees put such a negative vibe to our plans for the day. And I think it’s a complete insult to Jimmy Buffett. I would rate the whole experience a zero. Zero customer service, zero Self-awareness on how to run a restaurant, mediocre food preparation and presentation, and zero employee culture… Especially in a place that should be fun, upbeat and happy. To me, it starts with management… So if this was our brief little experience… I can’t imagine what it’s like on a busy or popular weekend. McDonald’s and Taco Bell’s employees are 50 times better than what we experienced. I’m sorry for the review. But as I said earlier… It was necessary!

My husband and I were on a roadtrip to Buffalo, but decided a quick stop in Cleveland for some appetizers to sustain us for the rest of the trio was a good idea. I have never been to Cleveland before, so I really wasn't in the know about local restaurants, but I do wish I did some research prior to picking a chain restaurant. I've been to a few different Margaritaville locations, and they are equally the same in menu offerings, decor and vibe. It's a chain restaurant, so don't expect anything unique. The area that this particular location was in forced us to pay $10 for parking otherwise we could have been circling blocks and walking until we found something. Though I will add that we were passing through town the same day as a baseball game, so the streets may have been more crowded than usual. This Margaritaville location sits in an area that appears to be walker friendly and there are some other restaurants nearby that appeared more local. Perhaps consider those prior to settling on a chain restaurant especially if you have been to a Margaritaville location already. We visited during happy hour, so we expected to be able to enjoy their drink and appetizer specials. Unfortunately, we were told that we had to be seated at the bar to receive happy hour specials....we had already been seated by the hostess at a table a mere 3 feet from the bar. We ordered the Spinach and Artichoke dip, Sweet Potato Fries and the Lava Lava Shrimp. Our favorite dish was the shrimp, but I will also add that the fries were cooked perfectly and the dip came with plenty of chips. The shrimp dish comes with around 8-10 shrimps that sit on a bed of lettuce dressed in a sweet chili sauce. Considered all together this meal wasn't anything particularly special. But it did make for a quick pitstop on our roadtrip. We were in and out within an hour. If you are visiting this area, I encourage you to check out some local restaurants before chains, but if you enjoy the island vibe, then look no further to quench your sweet and salty tastebuds.

The restaurant is in an area that’s being revitalized, so getting here under the overpass was interesting. I sat at the bar, and greeted pretty quickly and offered a drink. I placed an order for the chicken sandwich and was given my check to pay, before I even got the food. So I didn’t put a credit card down, thinking it would be normal to wait to see what the food and service was like before tipping. The bartender thought otherwise and asked if I was paying with a card. I obliged, but left the tip part blank for now. The food was taking longer, no big deal, but with I knew there was only one cook because so many people called out. Took about 40 minutes for my sandwich to come out. The whole time, the bartender apologized, but always said it should come out soon, knowing it probably wasn’t. When it did come out, it took a bit to get my honey mustard and then more time to get utensils and napkins, something that should’ve been there already. The vibe of the place was off because it was pretty empty and quiet, not the festive atmosphere you’d expect. It’s a newer restaurant, but two of the sinks in the bathroom were already missing faucets and soap dispensers. I might’ve given another star or been more understanding if my Diet Coke was taken off the bill. But alas, I was forced to pay before any food came out… The good news is the chicken sandwich was really good, and a big portion.

If you check out my reviews, you'll notice that I have maybe one other negative review. I don't like to do them unless it's truly a bad experience, which this one was. We were sat at a table that wasn't clean. It had little papers and a cherry stem on it. Our menus appeared to be freshly cleaned, but a closer look at the water on them revealed brown in it...not sure what that was. My margarita was more salt than liquor (check out the photo, that's all salt at the bottom). Our chicken egg rolls tasted like they were dunked in brine water (salt again). I ordered the chicken and shrimp teriyaki...where to start...the shrimp was clearly freezer burnt and chewy. The chicken was rock hard and salty. The broccoli had the same brine wash, too salty to eat. The only good thing was the rice, but I was scared to eat too much of it. The whole meal made you wonder what their kitchen looked like. Oh ya, and we weren't given silverware, we had to take some from an empty table. The server wasn't the best but she was new and helped with the bad food issue, so she still deserves a gold star. Lastly, my wife ordered a frozen drink and was brought some weird drink that was not frozen. We're still wondering what that issue was. Jimmy would have turned his boat around at this place. I've never been to one of these, and never plan to return.
