Atmosphere: Upon entering the establishment, towards the right side you will see a plethora of photos of the owner with various of famous celebrities in their New York locations. This gave it a very New York vibe since quite of bit of pizza restaurants do the same thing.Towards the center you can see all the types of pizza that you can choose from. On the left side you can see the restaurants illuminated logo. It's located within a strip center and the amount of space is fairly small but decent amount of seating (5 tables with a bar table towards the entrance). Note: they only serve bottled water/bottled soft drinks/canned drinks.
Service: We arrived slightly after 5 and surprised to see that we were the only ones there. While we were there, the employee answered all of our questions as well as told us the popular recommendations. Upon ordering our pizza and paying, it took very little time to have our pizza ready.
Quality: Where do I begin, but this pizza is highly reminiscent of New York style pizza and glad to have this type of pizza in the area. I had ordered the lasagna and classic pepperoni, in which even though the lasagna pizza was full in flavor and an experience in of itself. The pepperoni pizza definitely took me back when I visited NYC and had various amounts of pizza. Although it was a basic topping, its definitely the epitome of NYC pizza.
This will not be the last time I visit this location and can't wait to try their other pizza flavors. I highly recommend just getting the pepperoni pizza just to have a sense of NYC pizza and have to say it's one of my favorite pizza places in the BCS area. Hands down the best pizza by the...
Read moreIf you’re looking for the best pizza spot in town, Champion is it. Period. Not only does it fill the void Antonio’s left when Covid ran it out of town, it goes above and beyond. Workers are friendly, dining room is simple but kept clean and damn is the pizza good. These guys (and gals) clearly not only care about the food they serve, they take pride in serving the best pizza in town. The sauce is to die for, their toppings are just as high quality and you can tell someone was there at 6am to make sure the dough was prepared with love. I understand “the best” gets thrown around a lot, especially in small towns, but if you’ve been to NYC looking for a good slice, or simply just appreciate enjoying food that was made with passion - give this place a shot.
ALSO - at around 2pm most days, they make rounds to gas stations and other convenience stores with fresh made Pizza rolls, if you’re at the Barracks and need a quick lunch, the Barracks Market has them fresh daily in their warmer - a filling $4 lunch and its miles ahead of any other warm food you can get at that price. Their main location also has student deals on Tuesday thru Friday.
This is the sort of food Aggies and locals alike should be supporting, and I truly hope they become a staple in town as they continue to grow. Do yourself a favor and go grab a slice - and yes their garlic knots are also spectacular for the bread...
Read moreOrdered a variety. The margherita was sadly a miss due to the amount of parmesan cheese overshadowing the ingredients. The sausage and chorizo is very heavy on chorizo and wasn't bad but wasn't great. The little side rolls are simple and the side of marinara is incredibly small for 3 rolls. The pepperoni is basic. The crust fresh is crunchy but weak under the weight/size of the slice. Once left out for 2 hours it becomes soggy/chewy and honestly not the best. The labels in store aren't correctly placed under what your ordering so I ended up ordering one thing thinking it was something totally different even though the person behind the counter didn't correct me. Wonderful atmosphere, very small and only enough room for maybe a dozen people comfortably. Was a very clean establishment and the individual making the pizzas seemed really cool and full of personality. The person taking orders was so soft spoken it was hard to understand them and they seemed a little flustered so maybe they were new which it totally okay! Spent $50+ tip and sadly wont be returning. Not the best. Not the worst. Coming from someone who has had pizza from california to chicago to newyork; this is kind of newyork pizza. Flimsy, semi greasy, thin, bigger than it needs to be and 'cheap' with somehow a higher price tag...
