The Cannon Brew Pub
Would not recommend. With all of the dining options located on the same street, choose somewhere with tasty fresh food, and a customer-service focus; The Cannon Brew Pub is unfortunately not that place.
While visiting the city and strolling through the streets of Downtown Columbus, my girlfriend and I decided to stop at the Cannon Brew Pub to get a little snack. I ordered the sliders; she ordered buffalo chicken wings. Her wings arrived at the table while she was in the restroom, so I tried one. The saucing was fine, but the meat itself tasted like it was not fresh; spoiled. When she returned, I told her it didn’t taste right to me, but she should try too to confirm. She took a wing, and said it tasted normal. Then, we each tried another one. On the second wing round, mine tasted acceptable, but she had picked a spoiled one from the basket, and spit out the bite that she had.
At this time, both of us having experienced unsettling tasting wing meat, I let the waitress know. It was important to me to inform her, because the biggest risk in that scenario is someone getting sick from spoiled or potentially improper cooked meat. She stated that she was new, and would speak to the manager. Upon her return, she informed us that the manager looked at the plate of what was eaten, and decided to take half of the price of the appetizer off of the bill, which to me, was unacceptable. My girlfriend would’ve like to eat the entire appetizer she ordered, but it was not good, and she did not want to get sick. When the manager emerged and I tried to indicate to him that he should be concerned about the potential of causing illness to a customer, smug and arrogant, all he wanted to discuss was that the waitress showed him the plate and that fourth of the wings had been eaten, a fourth bitten into. We paid the bill and left, both unsatisfied with the food itself, and the dining experience. The customer is not always right, but there is definitely a right (and wrong) way to handle such a situation. We will not be returning, and will inform all of our Columbus friends to steer...
Read moreMy husband and I went for dinner. Prior to ordering, I asked our waitress what kind of chicken comes with the chicken and waffles, as I typically only eat white meat - breast or tenders. She informed me that it comes with a chicken breast, so I ordered. When my meal comes, I quickly realize I have 2 small chicken thighs. I ask her if they can be substituted for tenders being that she told me they come with white meat. She says she has to check with management. Shortly afterwards, a guy whom I am assuming is a manager comes to our table. He never introduced himself, just said "I heard you have a problem with your chicken". I explain the situation to him, and that I wouldn't have ordered this meal if I knew it came with chicken thighs. His only response was, "we can bring you tenders, but there is a $4 upcharge." My husband pressed him on this issue, especially since we were told the wrong information. The waitress also apologized. However, he still wanted to charge us an extra $4 to bring what they already initially told us comes with the meal. So after paying $16 for this dish, and not even touching the chicken at this point - no effort was made to correct their mistake, without wanting to now charge me a total of $20. I will also note it says nothing on the menu about an upcharge for tenders. And our waitress even told us she had just taken someone the same dish with tenders and to her knowledge there was no upcharge. After 2 drinks, an appetizer and our 2 meals we spent over $80. Definitely not worth it. It was my 2nd time here, but after the horrible service and management who treated us like they didn't care to make sure we enjoyed our meal, we will not...
Read moreI have to say I was pleasantly impressed with this restaurant last night. They have a diverse and interesting menu with several delicious sounding entrees. We were greeted quickly by an attentive and friendly staff and seated immediately. Our server checked on us frequently throughout the meal. Although the prices were a bit high that seems to be a common theme these days and the food was worth it in my opinion. Overall, a great place to eat. I'm a sucker for a good burger and haven't had one in a while so I chose the Don't Ya Know Burger and have to admit that it was impressive. The Patty was thick, juicy, well seasoned, and perfectly cooked. I opted to have the fried cheese curds tossed in the sweet raspberry sauce. That was a unique and interesting twist that I enjoyed but I believe I would have liked the buffalo sauce better. The sweet sauce along with my side item was just a little bit much. Speaking of side items, I chose the Sunspots(sweet potato waffle fries). They arrived to the table hot and perfectly crisped which is rare for sweet potato fries. The flavor paired well with the burger and the combination made for a great dinner. The person who joined me for dinner with chose the Red Jacket Monte Cristo and was thoroughly delighted with it. I'll definitely go back and more than likely have this combination again after I try some of their...
