TERRIBLE service! First off when we arrived at Nado Republic we waited at the hostess stand waiting to be seated. A lady asked if we were waiting and called someone over that was sitting at the bar to seat us.(assuming she was the hostess) We got seated outside which was fine, moments after she moved us inside. The restaurant wasn’t too busy, we sat there waiting for someone to take our drink order for about 20 minutes. Someone did come and bring us water when we first got seated, he wasn’t too friendly spilled water on the menus and didn’t acknowledge us or mentioned our server would be on his way or anything. At the 20 minute mark our server finally approached our table and was being very loud and arrogant he mentioning that we should of been facing the bar to get his attention and started ranting on how it took him a while to come to us.(I’m not sure if that was an apology) Then we finally ordered two glasses of wine, he soon brought the wine out. We then ordered a appetizer the Bruscetta Nado. At that time our server did mention the kitchen was going to be closing soon, and I told the server that we were fine with just a appetizer. Our server never came to check on us or kept us updated with the status of our appetizer, it was taking a long time. I did walk up to the bar that’s where our server was. And asked him if it was possible to cancel the appetizer and I was ready to pay my bill. The experience was terrible since the beginning. And was past closing time of the restaurant. He then started speaking very loud to the kitchen and notified me that it my appetizer was out. I then walked back to my table and he followed me back without my appetizer. Yelling at me saying I can take it to go if I want to leave. I then told him no it’s fine I would like to pay for the two glasses of wine. And I did tell him we waited very long for him to take our drink order. He then started saying don’t tell me how to do my job! He then started yelling again saying to get out of the restaurant, and to never come back again! He then grabbed my wine glass out of my hand. And said again to get out of the restaurant. He was yelling at us in front of customers. Never have we ever experienced something like this. It was very humiliating, for him to think it was okay to talk to a customer that way. Very unprofessional of him to act that way towards us. Terrible customer service!! In a situation like this he should of brought his manager or whoever was in charge to handle it. He shouldn’t of handled it himself and the way he did was VERY unprofessional. He shouldn’t be a server if that’s how he handles situations. I was willing to pay for the glasses of wine and the $12 appetizer we ordered. I gave our server the money for the bill, then he threw the money at us, and continued to yell. This was the worst experience ever!!! Never will I recommend this place to anyone! I’m all about promoting local restaurants, and recommending them to family friends and the media. But by far this is one I will never recommend.
I contacted the owner of this restaurant and received a this response “ he is a loud and funny guy sometimes his Italian Irony is not well understood I will talk to him to not be...
Read moreWow where to start…. We almost left before the meal started due to the unwelcoming greeting we received walking in. Looking back I wish we would have walked out.
Our waiter Mauro was extremely disinterested from the start. We ordered 3 drinks and attempted to order apps, but he insisted we put in drinks and then came back dropped them and then left us alone while we tried to flag him down to order for about 25 minutes. Finally when he came back we tried to order the whole meal and were told he had to fire the appetizers and then the main course. By no means a deal breaker, but after the start we were off to, it was more than frustrating.
Finally the appetizers hit the table. The brussels were very good, but the bruschetta was very poorly explained and confusing on the menu as it was purely just tomatoes and bread. No cheese or pesto like on the menu description. When we asked our waiter he seemed very angry about it, but agreed to bring us something else which was much better. During all this we asked for a refill on our drinks from Mauro. He came back and asked 25 minutes later if we wanted more drinks. We said yes we ordered them and he asked from whom and we puzzlingly said from you. He walked off and brought us the drinks and we waited about another 45 for our main course, all while we watched several other wrong courses being dropped at one of Mauro’s other tables then picked up and dropped at another table.
The main courses finally arrived about 1:30 after being first ordered. The pizzas were fine but nothing amazing. The fusilli sauce was honestly very bland and resembled a store bought sauce. The pancetta was burned and lacking much quality and didn’t add much to the dish. The other main course was a salad and we had to ask about it after everything else had already arrived. Not once were we asked about our meals or how anything was, so our feedback was never given to restaurant staff unfortunately.
We then tried to pay our bill, but had to find another member of their staff to help to help us close out our check, as Mauro was too busy socializing with the table of women next to us for the last 20 minutes. I would love to say that is where the problems ended, but unfortunately they charged me 5 times my actual bill and realized they closed me out for someone else’s bill and refunded me this. What we thought was out final check that was dropped again, but didn’t even tie to my itemized receipt. At this stage, we just wanted to be done with the whole experience so we accepted this bill as our final charge and left.
So after paying another wrong bill we left throughly unsatisfied with the food, service, and overall experience. This is the first review I have written for a restaurant in about 500 dining experiences. Sorry for long review, but I just hope someone reads this and has the luck to avoid the experience me and my...
Read moreWe had an a 6:45 reservation and arrived early but with no tables available. It took about 10 min for a table to be ready and we sat outside and under a heat lamp, it was pretty nice. We were told the calamari was already gone, so we got the meatballs as an appetizer, the gorgonzola salad, the Pappardelle Bolognese pasta, and the filet, all to share between the two of us. We ordered a nice bottle of wine as well.
The meal started off well, the meatballs were just OK, but the sauce was pretty good. The salad was wonderful, the perfect size to share and it had a lot of great flavors. The cheese and crunchy prosciutto were a great match.
The came the waiting, and waiting, and waiting. While we drank and waited almost an hour, the ambiance was nice. The server came over and apologized for the wait as the kitchen had just gotten busy. We said we understood, no problem. Then he offered us some bread. Three pieces of warmed up bread came with oil and vinegar. It was good enough, but not great.
Just a few moments later the pasta and steak arrived. The pasta dish was just OK, nothing to write home about, but I'll wow about it here. It wasn't anything special, but it was a good prion size to share, large if you did not share, we did not add any other meats to the pasta either.
The steak dish was terrible. 3.5 pieces of asparagus, some fried potatoes, and a steak. The potatoes and asparagus were good, but lacked any real seasoning. We ordered our steak medium rate for the filet, and it arrived so over cooked we didn't eat more than 2 bites each. It wasn't one of those "oh no, it's over cooked but I'm going to eat the whole thing anyways" meals. It was "oh, this is bad, like real bad, no wonder it took so long" kind of meals. We immediately told our server as he tried to sneak by, and all he said was "OK, that looks sort of overcooked, I guess I'll take it off of the bill" nothing else. No courtesy of any kind, or apology, or offer of another steak or anything else, then he just left.
So, there we were, no steak, so we asked for the bill after the pasta was complete. I was very surprised to see that the bread we ate offered while we waited was on the bill. $3.00 for the pieces of bread, it wasn't that good. Also, why not mention it. It's icky a few bucks, but why make it weird, ya know? While we finished the wine we got the bill and I paid in cash. Interesting enough, I got the wrong change, it was the perfect ending to a mediocre meal. I would try this place again, maybe, if everything wise was closed, maybe not on a Saturday night though. Take caution. Good luck, don't order the filet.
The good: Portion size Cool spot Nice menu The wine
The bad: The steak The flavors of other items The long wait The...
