We had a group of four couples, as the waitress began to take our drink orders she insisted she take the food orders as well. One of our friends was in the restroom and this seemed to annoy the waitress. We put in our orders and waited for our food. 3 of us ordered prime rib and another ordered a filet. The 4 $40 dinners came out around room temperature. Expecting a warm piece of meat for that price we notified the server. She unpleasantly responded by asking what she could do to fix, none of us felt comfortable send our food back with her, nor did I want my prime rib microwaved. We were finishing our almost warm meals when one of my friends start gagging on her $18 glass of wine. It turned out the glass of wine had large chunks of sediment in it. We once again let the the joyful waitress know and her response was, and I quote, "It won't kill you." After that we requested to talk with the manager, she was next to no help and justified the wine sediment. A simple "sorry" and decent attitude would have been sufficient.
Long story short the service wasn't bad it was down right embarrassing. The food and drinks were good if you don't mind room temperature steaks. The owner needs to clean house before I'd ever recommend even looking...
Read moreOrdered an Old Fashion. In conversation with my wife," I thought that Old Fashions usually come with cherries." I guess the bartender overheard what I was saying to my surprise! Suddenly, he mentioned, " I could give you a cherry". I had told him on thank you so I mentioned," I thought Old Fashions included a black cherry." Answering in confidence, " it depends on where you are from". He had told me he has a history of being a bartender in many parts of the country and people order there Old Fashion many different ways. It was a pleasant conversation and I thanked him for schooling me. I mentioned I really enjoyed the drink and thought the whiskey was very good. He said, it the well they offer. A Whiskey out of Indiana called, Hirsch. A little surprised that a Local bar that has been there since 1929 uses a liquor for there well based out of Indiana and not Colorado. Surprised not disappointed because that Whiskey was excellent! I wanted to thank the bartender for taking great care of my wife and I on 12/16/22. Loved the atmosphere especially the green...
Read moreIt took over 7 months of phone calls and e-mails to reserve the back room of the restaurant for a reception dinner, which ended up being cancelled. It has now taken 2 months to request a refund with multiple emails and phone calls and very little response from The Wooden Nickel’s event coordinator. If you’re having a special occasion dinner and need to reserve a space, look elsewhere. The event coordination customer service at this restaurant is terrible. They genuinely seem to not want anyone’s business or care about their customers. Our dinner was going to cost over $200 per person and even then, they were seemingly uninterested in booking the space. Now that it is cancelled, they are seemingly uninterested in returning our deposit which is 100% refundable per the contract. When you call the restaurant, you get nothing but a recording (even during business hours) and are unable to leave a voicemail. The only way to contact them is through e-mail, and it is nearly impossible to get any kind...
