The reason this isn’t a 1 star review is because the hostess was very kind about my party arriving late. That is where the good service ends.
That said, a few things here:
Originally, I thought my sister-in-law was just being difficult, but my server could not have been more cold or unaccommodating to my table if he tried. At the price of the food, things like minor substitutions shouldn’t be an issue, or at the least they should charge us for substitutions. It shouldn’t disqualify a dish because I can’t eat the sides. Our waiter was being much nicer to other tables, so he decided to have a gripe with my family and I, which isn’t right.
My stepmom is allergic to onions, and the salads don’t list that they have onions at all. When we got the salad, it was filled with raw onions. I asked if the dish could be returned, and he said no. I said “if we knew there were raw onions in the dish, we wouldn’t have ordered it.” My server’s answer: “I don’t know what to tell you.” My stepmom and my Dad had to spend about 5-10 minutes picking onions out of the salad.
When I told him, nicely and graciously might I add, that onions are something that should be listed on a menu, since a fair amount of folks are allergic to onions. His response was a quick “yes sir,” and he bolted away. Mind you, the restaurant was not at all busy. He just didn’t care.
My sister-in-law asked to have the chives removed from her salad. When she asked, the server acknowledged that request and said “I’ll ask them to not add chives.” Her salad came covered in chives. The server’s response was “oh, I asked them not to include them.” At that point, we had been waiting 15 mins for a salad, she decided to just scrape off the chives. It wasn’t worth sending back. Plus, we had no faith they would take back the salad, because they wouldn’t take back the other salad that was full of onions.
The chicken I ordered was cold in the center at certain parts. At this point, I didn’t care to complain. I didn’t trust anything would remedied, and (though I know it sounds paranoid) I didn’t trust that this guy wouldn’t spit in my food at this point, because of his disdain for my table. I figure I’m just going to cut my losses.
I’m not really wanting to come back here. My sister-in-law and brother, who were semi-frequent customers, do not want to come back here.
My suggestion to the restaurant: be more accommodating at your price point, and train your wait staff to be warmer to their customers. Customer service matters at the price point of this restaurant.
My suggestion to potential customers: the service negates the quality of the food (which depends on the dish and I guess the server and chef that night) and the price is high. I would avoid...
Read moreAMBIANCE So cute! The aesthetics drew us in immediately. I felt like I was in a DC restaurant a different vibe from LA and it was nice.
We didn’t have reservations and we were seated in the entryway which was kind of random considering there was a lot of seating availability. My girlfriend felt it was because we were “of color”, but I really DO NOT think so. Maybe it was mapped by the servers routes, regardless I found it comical and choose to believe we were just so cute they wanted us to welcome all of their customers 😌. Nonetheless we really weren’t dressed appropriately we had just come from as we had just come from a Pilates class. Our waitress was lovely and I can be quite frank. However we ordered bottled flat (Evian) water. I only mention the brand because it was suspicious. I love Evian water I’ve never had a problem with it but whatever they served as smelled like lake water the filtered tap water actually smelled fresher. Maybe poor washing? I don’t know but a server came by the table swapped us out immediately also I had him smell it lol it was pretty rough. I had to laugh at his reaction upon smelling it, “yes this is very .. very… interesting” He also chuckled and it made for a fun lunch experience. Felt like someone was going through it with me.
THE FOOD *We had the market salad which was absolutely delicious and fresh it had a nice crunch to it. Green, leafy and delicious. Absolutely recommend this.
The chicken was the recommended dish which was edible… It brought back some nostalgia in a way but of a Midwest crockpot mother or a hospital cafeteria. I would never order that again but certainly ate it all.
THE WINE They had a great selection, my girlfriend ordered a red blend it was delicious. But whatever I ordered was rotten, to the restaurants credit they did not charge me for that glass (I also did not drink it) .. but I couldn’t it was pretty annoying that they were insisting it was nothing wrong with it. It smelled pungent, like maybe it had been stored wrong, yet I still tasted it like a dummy and sure enough it tasted like a dead rat smells.
All the elements for a fantastic restaurant are here… Maybe it was just an off day either way, not planning my next reservation here. If you’re hungry, hangry or happen to be in the area give it a try, but don’t go out...
Read moreI have LOTS to say about this restaurant!! Where do I start?
Not your everyday same 6 dish restaurant you find in the USA. Not a single dish is recognizable. The state of the restaurant industry is so poor- almost all of them have hung their hats on the same salmon, sea bass, 2 types of fillets and 2 pastas. Every single menu is just a variation of this. Add in the really bad tuna crudo’s and you have a restaurant
Juliet is totally the opposite! Not a single dish is recognizable. And if it is, likely their oysters, they come perfectly seasoned!!! And their take on classics like chicken liver - which comes in perfectly delicious baked tart - wow!
Ambience- from the comfort of the chairs and tables to the bathrooms. Each and every detail of the restaurant is thought through including a farm table right by the bar allowing large groups to actually have fun at dinner family style!
Wine and Cocktails- one of the best wines by the glass and overall wines are available at a GREAT value. Bartenders are very knowledgeable and make amazing cocktails!
Service- 5 star service. The somm knows it all and very easy and fluent to talk to.
FOOD!!! LETS GO! I end up ordering every single dish on the menu almost every time I go. It’s cooked to perfection. My favorite are the lamb chops! Seasoned and cooked to perfection. Duck confit cigars - oh wow my mouth is watering just thinking of them!! I can keep going it you can go and enjoy!
Dessert- insane bakery chef. The Madeline’s are better than I’ve had even in France. The cheesecake is to die for.
Bottom line- it’s the best restaurant in...
