Enjoyed dinner at Beverley’s last Wednesday Oct. 23. We live right down the street on Travis and have been curious since the bistro opened to check it out. Also, unable to make a reservation at the time we desired we walked-in, just a party of three celebrating one’s birthday, and the hostess offered a table at the bar or on the patio. The weather was nice so we opted for the patio.
Considering this space used to be a rather trashy dive bar, the owners did an excellent restoration of the interiors and exteriors giving it a complete makeover evolving a former male dance bar into a neighborhood gem. It’s cozy, but not dated. It’s comfortable but not boring. It’s upscale without being stuffy.
Our waitress, and I forget her name, but she was excellent. She knew her menu and how to sell and describe things without being robotic. She spoke with interest, she listened to our questions, responded with professionalism and attended to the table with a fluid ease and graceful style. She anticipated our needs and satisfied us with unobtrusive service. She was definitely an all-star. I wished I knew her name, you treated my friend to the key lime pie for his birthday.
The dishes well done! I tried my buddies Matzah ball soup-yummy, I had an excellent burger, the schnitzel my friend's sister had was quite tasty! And the key lime pie was delicious later that night at home!
They have an extensive wine menu and a good signature cocktail menu. I am typically a bourbon guy but the tequila mezcal with chili pepper and citrus was top notch! I enjoyed two.
Beverley, welcome to the...
Read moreDallas has no shortage of places trying to dress up brunch as an event. Most end up chasing the same tired clichés: bottomless mimosas, avocado smashed into oblivion, influencers jockeying for the best light. Beverly’s, though, doesn’t feel like it’s playing that game.
I came in on a Sunday morning and ordered the American Breakfast, the kind of plate you could find anywhere in the country, the kind of plate that, done poorly, feels like a crime. Eggs, bacon, toast, potatoes. Simple. Honest.
The food came out hot, filling, and better than it had any right to be. The eggs were cooked properly,no rubber, no grease-slicked mess. The bacon, salty and crisp. The potatoes were seasoned well enough to remind you that someone in the kitchen actually gave a damn. And the toast? Golden, not burned, not limp. When you’re hungover or just hungry, that’s all you really want: food that lands exactly where it’s supposed to.
Beverly’s isn’t reinventing brunch. But it doesn’t have to. There’s something refreshing about walking into a place that just serves you a solid plate of food without the pretense. Filling, satisfying, worth the trip.
Dallas can keep its overhyped, $20 avocado toast temples. I’ll take a proper American breakfast at...
Read moreI had the absolute pleasure of celebrating my birthday this June at Beverley’s Bar & Bistro, and it was truly an unforgettable experience.
From the very beginning, Megan, the manager, was such a joy to work with — incredibly kind, quick to respond, and went above and beyond to accommodate every detail. She helped set the patio so beautifully and elegantly, creating the perfect setting for a special night.
The chef was outstanding, thoughtfully creating a menu that not only featured delicious dishes, but also included three custom vegan options to accommodate one of my guests. That kind of care really stood out.
And let’s not forget the star who helped bring it all together — our server, Kosta, was absolutely amazing. His warm energy, attentiveness, and professionalism made the entire evening flow so smoothly.
To top it all off, my guests were treated to complimentary sparkling rosé, which was such a thoughtful and classy gesture. And of course, everything was delicious — the food, the drinks, the ambiance — simply perfect.
My heart was so full and absolutely happy with everything. I’m incredibly grateful to the entire Beverley’s team for making my birthday so special. I’ll be back — and I’ll be telling everyone I know...
