Don’t miss Sammy’s if you’re in Dallas. A proper BBQ outfit in the middle of towers was quite unexpected. The food was fantastic—both meats and sides. The prices were inexpensive by comparison to any good BBQ restaurant, much less one in the middle of the city. More importantly, the service; I arrived 10 minutes before closing (they still had all meats available and only mac and cheese was finished for sides) and they insisted I stay to eat. I didn’t eat quickly as I understood another couple behind me was also finishing up, however when I stood to depart it was readily apparent they were not customers and it was only me keeping employees from going home. Yet not once was I hurried. And when I apologized they were as gracious as ever. Overall, a fantastic experience I’m sure they’ll replicate for you if you choose to visit—and I highly recommend you do.
Update: Visited again after 8 months, at opening on a Saturday. The service was exemplary once again—6 stars! The sides and atmosphere were fantastic again. However, the brisket was closer to chopped than sliced and overall dry. As it was a Saturday in a business district (components for being open at all!) it was possibly not the weeks’ best meat. Overall review will stay a 5, suggest being choosy on the...
Read moreWe recently had Sammy's cater a family event and we could NOT be happier!! The food was hot, fresh and delicious. Some of the best brisket I ever put in my mouth. "Manny" was spectacular. No exaggeration when I say we didn't have to lift a finger. I have a cousin with many years in the service industry. She couldn't stop raving about him. He went above & beyond to help people with drinks, refill ice in the beer cooler and even took out the trash when it was full. None of which were required or asked of him. I still remember the obvious looks of disappointment when someone got the last of the peach cobbler. (I will definitely order more than recommended next time) Our kitchen was sparkling when he slipped out at the end of our gathering. We have been big fans of Sammy's for many years, but if you're not familiar, it's tucked away off Routh St. between Woodall Rodgers Frwy service road & McKinney Ave. Not super easy to see, so you kind of have to know about it. For sure one of Dallas' hidden gems. Also a great place for lunch with a large covered patio able to seat as big of a work crowd as you can bring. The staff is always extra friendly and always smiling. Honestly, I wish there was a 6th star I could put in the rating....
Read moreFrom the perspective of a food delivery driver with Favor, it is frightening to have to allow them to take one's driver's license into a back room to photocopy it, before the driver can place THE RESTAURANT'S CUSTOMER'S order to then take the order to THEIR CUSTOMER. The explanation is that other people have faked Favor orders resulting in the restaurant getting a charge back on that meal. Since drivers are put at very high risk of Identity theft by this, I will never do business with Sammy's again, unless they change this policy. I pray I did not make a very big mistake going ahead with it this time, so that THEIR and Favor's customer did not have a delay, by Favor having to attempt to find a driver willing to expose him/herself to this foolishness. The restaurant can look at the driver's phone and see the Favor app active in it, thereby obviating any...
