My mom and I wanted to get out for dinner so I started looking online at spots nearby. This place jumped out at me as I hadn’t heard about it before and the reviews looked very good. After browsing the menu and looking at pictures I was sold that this was where I wanted to go! Immediately when you walk in you get cozy vibes. Everything was decorated very uniquely and the staff were welcoming and friendly. We had arrived just after 4 so it was relatively quiet and we were happy to see that we were there for happy hour (even on a Saturday). We decided to try 2 unique cocktails. My mom got the 24 karat and I got the cool as a cuke. We enjoyed both (although the second round of 24 karat we got was quite different than the first. The second one had an extreme ginger taste/scent whereas the first one didn’t). We were given complimentary boiled peanuts which were unlike any boiled peanuts I ever had. They were very tasty! For our meal we decided to share a few appetizers. The crab stuffed mushrooms, tuna wontons and coconut shrimp were all delicious. Next we tried two deserts, the beignets and the cheesecake. Personally, I thought the appetizers were better than the desserts but that could just be a personal preference of mine as I tend to lean more towards savory than sweet. It became extremely busy as it got closer to 5-6 o clock and we had several different servers. Service got a little bit slower as they got busier but we weren’t in a big hurry, and were enjoying the ambiance. This place is truly a gem!
We can’t wait to go back and try some of the...
Read moreThis was our first time eating at Hunters and Gatherers, and we arrived around 6:45. I was really excited to try the chicken and dumplings, but unfortunately after our appetizers came out, our server let me know they were already out of that dish. It almost felt like the order wasn’t put in on time, which was disappointing so early in the evening. I ended up ordering the beef stew instead, which was delicious, as was the side sideboard. The food we did receive was excellent.
Our server was polite, but he seemed new and a bit unsure throughout the evening. By the end of the meal, he seemed checked out, and we had to flag down other staff members to help us get our check. Thankfully, the rest of the staff was attentive and helpful when we asked.
The restaurant itself has a nice vibe, but the tables felt a little crowded. It was odd seeing a large couch taking up space while diners seemed squeezed together — the layout could probably be improved.
Overall, while our service wasn’t the best, the food was great and other staff helped make up for it. I’d be willing to give Hunters and Gatherers another try because the flavors were...
Read moreBrought my Girlfriend here for her Birthday dinner. She had previously been there for Lunch and absolutely loved it so she knew we had to try dinner menu. Immediately we were made to feel welcome by several members of the staff. I had the Prime Rib which was amazing and my Girlfriend had the Filet Mignon on top of the blue cheese Grits, along with the asparagus which were very large and the ceaser Brussels sprouts. Her stake was ordered medium rare Philadelphia style and was cooked to Perfection, My Prime rib was perfect and I loved my sides as well. Carson was our waiter and we liked him immediately, he was very attentive and accommodating with a sense of humor that I identify with. However all of the staff was so helpful, friendly and attentive. They worked well as a TEAM which in my opinion is the key to success in any business. Next we will be going for Brunch on a weekend and we look forward to visiting again. I never ever give reviews, however this place along with the staff are deserving of a great review. Whoever owns this establishment is fortunate to have the staff that he has....
