Cakes-A-Bloomin' — Restaurant in Delta Charter Township

I was so impressed by their cupcakes that I ordered for my employees, that I ended up getting my rehearsal dinner cupcakes and wedding macaroons and cake from here as well. All items we've order have been out of this world delicious, and we don't even like cake. The macaroons especially were a big hit with our wedding guests. The customer service was excellent - everyone was very kind and responsive.

However, I have to take my review down from 5 stars to 4 stars because we were so disappointed by the cake decorating. We had originally asked for just a modern white cake, and then asked them to add the words "at last" on the top. Below you will see the two photos sent to them via email, with explicit instructions. I confirmed twice over the phone that we would be placing live flowers on the cake. I even explicitly said I did not want any frosting flowers. They added both a frosting border at the bottom (making it not modern/sharp lines) and a pipe floral wreath, which looked very fake/bad before we tried to cover it up with the live flowers. We ended up not being able to display the cake - the changes they made to the design took it from simple, but elegant modern wedding cake, to a grocery store cake.

The taste is out of this world, but we were extra diligent about sending photos, confirming, and explicitly stating what we wanted, and the baker took some liberties they should not have. It was really disheartening.

Highly highly recommend for birthday, office treats, special celebrations, but maybe not for weddings. Or be extra careful with instructions/their display...

Very unprofessional. Turned down business. I reached out via email to try and get some questions answered about wedding cakes. It was like pulling teeth to get them to answer all the questions I asked so I had to keep emailing back repeating my questions. I scheduled a tasting/consultation via phone because they won’t do it over email. After speaking with the woman who answered the phone, what we are looking for (small cake and cupcakes) didn’t need a consultation but told me to let them know if that’s how I wanted to proceed or not. So, a few days later, I emailed back asking to cancel the consultation because I didn’t want to hold up a spot for someone else. They responded saying all Wedding orders required a consultation. I responded saying how I was frustrated because I kept getting different information and that the woman on the phone told me we didn’t need one and then asked them to keep my appointment and confirm we were still on schedule. Promptly, they responded saying that I was no longer a “good fit” for them and that they were cancelling my appointment and would not be of service for our wedding. I guess they turn down business when you ask to many questions or express frustration with misinformation or point out any mistake...

Called to order a simple gluten free strawberry cake for my 5 year old son's birthday. Mind you we are only a family of five so I thought this would be an easy order. My first time calling them. His birthday is in two more days so plenty of time for them to make it.They told me they could do a white cake only but could not guarantee the strawberry frosting would be gluten free. Not very friendly at all on the phone either. Wow! for an order so simple, I was shocked at how terrible they were. They sounded like they didn't want to make the cake. Well, they lost my business and can just sit there in their ugly building in the run down part of town for all I care. I think Kroger has what I'm looking for. - Edit- The newbie you just spoke about DID ask a manager and the "manager" who she was laughing with in the background didn't know either, if the frosting was gluten free. For a company that's been in business for so long, that was pretty unprofessional. Also, it was part of the reason why I was turned off by how everything was handled. My son and I have celiac disease and it's not something to laugh at especially when you have a business that advertises that you should call and ask about gluten free products and people are laughing at you...
