Came at 12:15 AM after an Avalanche game, asked the DJ if my friend and I would be able to sing and no worries if not . Said no worries , 4 songs away. My friend and I sat there after our hockey team lost and just wanted to sing one song before heading home, and waited for 45 minutes until we asked when we would be up (also we’re sitting at the front table closer to DJ where he could clearly see us). Told us we were up in 2 songs.
In attempt to not be annoying customers asking when we were up if there was a queue, I noticed that two karaoke singers has sang now twice since we put our song in, and one person the third time. It was then noticed around 1:30 AM that all of the repeat singers were in fact the individuals serving us drinks, but in actuality the only one serving drinks was the only employee not singing. He was great, but what karaoke bar cuts out paying customers for not only them to sing, but for them to sing 2-3 times?! Absolute joke.
Lastly , I did even mention when putting my name down for a song that it would be no worries if we couldn’t sing since it was just after midnight , and was reassured it would be quick and to even hurry up going to the restroom. It was not his fault, as I watched the employees paying the DJ continually drink and demand to sing whenever they walked up, which again was the 3 groups who sang 2-3 times each since 12:15.
In summary, don’t come here if you want to karaoke, the employees think they get paid to sign (very drunk and poorly) , and if you do know that you may wait for 1.5 hours before being told the bar is closing and the entire point of your visit was a scam to take your money for drinks while you wait to sing a song that will never come , while the slow service is due to one hard working bartender and 4 wanna-be american idols who sing 2-3 times in under an hour over paying customers.
Do not come here, the stars of star bar are the bartenders, and it’s tough to listen to any of them sing. I’m pretty bad at signing and would judge nobody, until tonight - because yes it was that bad and yes they were the managers and bartenders.
In closing , what is Star backwards ? Rats …. and this is the rats bar … where the rat employees sing over dozens of customers every night , and although it wasn’t me, do not challenge them or they’ll kick you out as I saw them do to a 57 year old man and his daughter for also being upset with the false promises and inability to sing for “karaoke...
Read moreNot a dive bar, having just moved back from a stay in Portland, I’m greatly missing my normal plethora of watering holes. So I’ve been going around trying out a variety of places, and wide right happened to be closed for the holiday weekend so it was a good chance to check this place out with some friends in town.
Utterly terrible service, and the bartenders here select 30% tip, prior to handing pad to you to cash out - creating a dilemma for you to then decide if you want to change it or not. This was done to all 4 of us, and I visited the bar 3 times over the course of a week. Happened every single time.
Tell me you’re not a dive bar without telling me: Select 30% tip for you right in front do you and hands it to you. Every. Single. Time.
It gets worse, these guys carry a decent whiskey and bourbon selection for a “dive” bar. Yet none of them know the price before pouring. On check out it’s $18 for a pour of Wellers or anything of the like. This is a $25, max $30 bottle and you can get pours of $100 dollar bottles for this price at seven grand down the road with much better service, actual whiskey cubes.
So I had to scratch getting a pour of whiskey here Bartenders don’t seem to know how to make many drinks that don’t contain the ingredients in the name Beer selection is abysmal
Witnessed people walk in while no one was manning the door, only to be screamed it to provide their ID. They walked out after they likely felt harassed. Because to be fair, I’d you aren’t manning the door, most places just have their bartenders actually check ids, not scream at incoming patrons because you aren’t doing your job. Oh and it was dead every time I went in, so really no excuse for how piss poor every...
Read moreTourists beware! We stopped in this bar because they had karaoke...the only reason I left 2 stars was because of karaoke. When we first go there, we ordered drinks. There were 3 of us. After a few minutes of figuring out what we could order(no jack Daniel's, no titos), so we got 2 tall george dickel/coke doubles, and 1 deep eddys/soda tall, single. This round was $32, we left $40 and told her to keep it. When we made it to the next round, same price. The last trip to the bar, 1 tall George dickel and coke, double... was $26?!?! What?! The bartender, Eric, said the other girl had been charging us wrong so, he'd do it for $16. We handed him a $20 and he didn't even offer change back. Just put that $4 in his tip bucket. I was shocked. I've been a bartender for 18 years. We manage and help create large scale events, specifically on the beverage team. If the other bartender really was under charging, OK, but from $32 for 3 drinks to $26 for 1?! George Dickel isn't even $26 per bottle! Shame on you Eric. If you were on my team, I'd fire you for poor customer service and being greedy! Needless to say, we left because we don't spent our money with people like that. We went across the street to Herbs and had a...
