Amazing food, decent service, what even is supposed to be the atmosphere in here. Like I kind of get the Curtis's thing, It's like toy story or adolescence entertainment or something like that. For the corner store just comes off corporate.... So I guess if you're trying to hold a corporate meeting because you're staying at the Curtis, it's a good choice. Otherwise I usually end up passing up on this place just due to the sheer expensiveness of the food and how chaotic it can be at times. Also, someone who lives in the building above the fact that the staff often have to rout themselves through the elevator lobby in my building, but then I'm banned from using the Curtis to get to my apartment? Kind of feels unfair, And makes any interaction with their staff awkward. With the new restaurant on the other side, I now have plenty of options when it comes to last minute late night drinks. So they're probably going to have to step up their game going forward if they're going to compete. Or hey, maybe they're making enough from the Republicans who commute to this state to try and ruin everything that they don't need to change nothing. Hey, more power to them if they want to be that conservative. Also, we've had way too many fire alarm scares from this place in recent history. It's actually one of the main complaints I have about my apartment building is how often I've had to evacuate due to a grease fire or something that's happened in the restaurant. Especially when a lot of the time. It isn't actually an emergency and was just a bunch of smoke because it was the guy's first time on the grill or something. It would be nice if they had a button they could push to let us know. It was a non-emergency so we don't have to go and wait out in the cold with our animals while the fire department figures out how to turn it off. Especially with the thing that are elevators automatically shut down when...
Read moreI recently visited this restaurant with my mom and 9 year old daughter before our Frozen musical. We unfortunately had a disappointing experience.
Despite having reservations and arriving 5 minutes early, we were seated at a back corner table to our table that was awkwardly high for a standard dining experience. The table was also incredibly small and wobbly.
Upon opening my menu, I found there was no menu inside, so I walked back up to the host to get a new one and request we be seated at a different table more suitable for 3 people. He did move us, but not without hesitation due to a woman who was insistent we be sat some place else.
The food was overpriced and underwhelming. My mom’s scallops were decent but not worth the high price. My poke bowl was bland, lacking proper flavor balance, and needed more soy sauce. My daughter struggled to find something to eat as we were not given a kids menu and ended up with a $12 hummus appetizer that was too spicy for her. It wasn’t until we left that I saw a kids menu on the host stand, which would have been more suitable and reasonably priced. I did not see this kids menu when we arrived nor did I see them among all the other stacked menus (that also did not have menus inside) when requesting a new menu. When I asked the host why we had not been given a kids menu, he replied with “oh! We just now put them out!” As if he were just as shocked as I was to see them.
Overall, we spent about $115 (with tip) for three people, which included my mom’s beer, scallops, my water and poke bowl, and my daughter’s water and hummus appetizer. This seemed excessive for the quality and experience provided. The lack of service and attention to detail, coupled with the high prices, left much to be desired. I would not recommend...
Read moreI really wanted this to be a great experience. Our waitress was super nice and very helpful, as was all of the wait staff. However, we ordered the cashew queso and even before our entrees arrived we both started to feel a little uneasy. We both got the Jamaican jerk chicken mac and cheese which was super yummy. Unfortunately, about 3 hours later we both had horrid food poisoning. I feel pretty confident in saying it was due to the cashew queso considering we both started feeling sick right after eating that and it was the only food we had both eaten together. I called the restaurant just to let them know in case it was a dish that is made and served for a few days (I used to work in a restaurant so I understand that can happen), and the manager would not let me finish a dang sentence. He assured me it is made fresh daily and refused to believe it was the queso. He said there was no responsibility to be had unless I had gone to a doctor. I wasn't looking for anything from them...not a gift card, not my bill waived...I just wanted them to know so that if it was the same batch they wouldn't serve it again today. I just love when a man won't let you speak and then proceeds to tell you how food poisoning works as if this is my first rodeo and I was born yesterday. Yes, food poisoning does usually take a little bit to kick in, but if both people share a dish and it makes them both sick very shortly after then maybe there is something very wrong with that dish.
P.S. Cute atmosphere but the tables are tiny. Our waitress could barely fit all of our food on the table, and the lights hang so low that you can't help but knock them when you get up from the table.
Overall, super sad and won't be returning. I wish you luck. Maybe just...
