Read moreThe Colorado Convention Center is a spacious and well-designed venue with solid potential for hosting large-scale events. However, the biggest challenge — and unfortunately the dealbreaker for many organizers — is the union labor required to operate within the facility.
In my experience, the union staff not only lacked urgency but often created unnecessary delays. Tasks that could have been completed quickly and efficiently were drawn out, and basic requests were often met with resistance or unprofessional behavior. For example, something as simple as delivering a few pallets became a frustrating ordeal, with staff showing visible frustration and unwillingness to cooperate.
It’s clear that the union operations at this venue significantly slow down productivity. The team often appeared more focused on maintaining control than helping events run smoothly. Management oversight also felt lacking. There seemed to be little accountability or urgency in ensuring clients’ needs were met. The unfortunate truth is, if organizers were allowed to bring in a third-party logistics team, not only would it save time and money, but the job would likely be done better and faster.
Until major improvements are made with how labor is handled at this venue, I would strongly advise future event planners to proceed with caution — or consider alternate locations that offer more flexibility and...
