First, I would like to say that my stay at The Oxford was great. The staff members were all incredibly friendly and helpful and the room was nice. The location was perfect. The low rating is because of the sanitary conditions of the room I stayed in.

Now, I know what I am about to say could hurt this hotel's business so I do not write this review carelessly but I have to inform others who may consider staying here about my experience to hopefully prevent this from happening to someone else and to make this hotel aware of the seriousness of this situation.

After staying at this hotel for 5 days, both myself and my friend who was sharing a room with me developed a rash which was later diagnosed as Scabies. This is a very contagious skin mite that can live in bedding and mattresses and is commonly contracted at hotels. I would not point the finger at the hotel if I was not 100% certain that this is where we contracted the mites. My friend and I flew in to Denver from separate cities, both of us were symptom free for the entire 5 days we stayed at the hotel and then we both developed symptoms at the same time (in our separate cities), 3 days after our stay. This is all in line with the typical timeline of a Scabies infestation.

As soon as I discovered that what I had was Scabies I contacted the hotel via email. After a couple of days with no response, I emailed again. The purpose of the email was to inform them of the infestation so that they could treat the room and take whatever other action would be required. Finally, a week after my first email, I received a call from the General Manager. She informed me that they ran tests on the room but did not find any mites and therefore the hotel could not and would not accept responsibility for our infestation. The Scabies Mite cannot live without a human host typically for more than 48 hours so if no one else had stayed in that room, finding any mites 2 weeks after our stay would have been impossible.

Scabies is a pretty awful experience which can leave you with symptoms for months and sometimes years after exposure. Not to mention the cost involved for medications, sprays for your house and the loads and loads of laundry. The hotel did not offer to reimburse me or my friend for these expenses which I feel would have been the very least they could have done.

If you do still plan to stay here, please stay here with caution as the mites that we contracted could have stayed on the sheets if they were not washed properly to kill the mites and then put onto another bed in another room where the mites could have found another human host and the cycle...

During my recent work trip to Denver, Colorado, I booked a stay at The Oxford Hotel near Union Station. With its impressive 5-star ratings and status as one of the city's historic hotels, I had high expectations for my experience. Unfortunately, my stay fell short of those expectations.

Upon arriving at the hotel in the evening, I was greeted by friendly staff who informed me about the amenities included with my reservation, such as water, Wi-Fi, and breakfast. However, I found it peculiar that I was handed a physical key and warned that losing it would result in a $75 fee. Nevertheless, I brushed it off and proceeded to my room.

As I made my way down the dimly lit hallways and passed worn-out walls and doors, I couldn't help but feel a sense of melancholy. The overall ambiance of the hotel was rather depressing. Upon entering my room, I attempted to switch on the lights but found that the switch didn't work. Assuming there must be another way to turn them on, I searched for a solution in vain. Eventually, I had to call the front desk and request assistance. A staff member came to my room and confirmed that the switch was indeed faulty, guiding me to an alternative light source.

The room itself was spacious, as was the bathroom. However, I was surprised to find a plastic showerhead, the smallest sink I've ever encountered, and dust accumulating on the air vents. Additionally, despite setting the AC to 61 degrees, it failed to cool the room adequately, making for an uncomfortable night's sleep. Furthermore, when I went to take a shower, the shower gel dispenser was filled with water and diluted gel, making it difficult to use.

The next morning, I eagerly headed downstairs for breakfast, hoping that a highly acclaimed hotel would offer a satisfying meal. Unfortunately, I was disappointed to find a limited selection consisting mainly of fruits, yogurts, and some croissants.

The only redeeming aspect of my stay was the exceptional service provided by the front desk staff. They went above and beyond to accommodate guests, offering complimentary water bottles and arranging free rides to nearby locations.

Overall, my experience at The Oxford Hotel near Union Station was underwhelming. While the staff at the front desk were commendable, the hotel itself fell short in several areas. The outdated and lackluster room amenities, combined with the disappointing breakfast offerings, left me with a feeling of dissatisfaction. It's disheartening to say that my stay at this historic establishment did not live up to...

The best part of this stay were probably the staff who were very helpful and always seemed genuinely positive. The room was sumptuous. The bed was good quality and most people would probably love the firmness (I prefer it a bit softer than most people). The linens were lovely, as were the towels. The bathrobes were the softest and nicest I've ever put on.

The drapes were able to completely block light, which made for lovely sleeping and the windows were thick enough to mostly block out city street noise - only the occasional ambulance siren could be heard. The walls were quite thick so I never heard any other guests. The quiet was much appreciated.

If it were cheaper, I'd simply rave about it. However, for the price, I guess I expected perfection. Here are my small grievances: The heat was unable to go above 72F. While typically I wanted it at 70F, which was possible, I did try to bring it up to 74F once, which didn't work, despite the engineer looking at it. The continental breakfast was fresh, but the carbs were all sweet or chips. Since they provided lox, meats, cheeses, it would have been nice to have bread/toast/bagel to go with it. Hard boiled eggs were nice, but no knife provided to cut them, nor salt & pepper. No oatmeal, which occasionally is available at continental breakfasts. The plates provided were the size of tea saucers so a bagel chip could not fit on the plate with an orange at the same time.

I called ahead to request a fridge in my room, but there were none available. They were able to put my leftovers in their fridge, but I would have preferred one in my room.

The "complimentary" bourbon tasting from 5-7 expects a $10 tip, which seems steep to me, considering it's "complimentary" and considering there's no option to add a splash of water or ice.

Even smaller gripe - water pressure on the 4th floor was lighter in the shower than I'd have liked. It was still a good temperature and it was enough pressure, but not amazing.

I stayed here because it was close to union station. But now that I've been to Denver, I realize that not much seems to happen downtown unless you're there for business, which I wasn't. I wish I'd stayed in LoHi or Cap Hill. But if you're here for business, it could be the...
