Eeek!! We loved this place and ate here multiple times a week for weeks and were told the curry was vegan—- yet it turns out it wasn’t. Luckily they were honest and finally told us after we ate there multiple times )being told it was vegan). Thanks I now know why I was deathly ill all week. Thanks for ruining my vacation Dillion Thai Maybe you could learn to Dillon Try! If you are in the restaurant industry please try to understand food allergies and food terms like vegan. Vegans will come if you have options and vegans will spend money for things that are vegan. If you are trying to run a business it would help to understand food allergies and don’t label something as vegan on your menu and say things are vegan when they are not. This could be deadly for those with allergies. The restaurant is clean and the service was fine but to say something is vegan multiple times when it’s not is unethical.
This is a follow-up to the previous response I received from this review, I was happy and honestly quite surprised to receive a response in the first place. Now I was certainly not surprised to see that it was a complete lie, and no sympathy was shown. After the phone call mentioned in the response that I received, I did not expect to receive any solution from “Dillon Thai.”
The lack of care became especially apparent on the phone call, after my husband calmly explained the situation and our allergies, the manager responded with “what were your allergies even of” my husband remained calm, unlike the manager and the reply I received. He explained all our allergies (previously to this comment, and after.) …Which would explain why we were sick every-time after eating there. After explaining this the manager proceeded to say “well what do you want me to do”. So not only was he dismissive of why we were even upset in the first place, but he was quite arrogant during the whole call. He acted as if we were the biggest inconvenience of his life, from the moment the call started. As to go over what happened in restaurant, he is now trying to claim what we did have was in fact vegan. Which I can assure you, it was not. When we went in to order and the new waiter informed us that no curry has ever been vegan, he also explained to us with a purposely telling look that our old waiter had to be “re-staffed”. This was not surprising ether as our previous waiter was extremely unprofessional, and to be frank he acted quite inappropriately. Winking at me and making comments, repeatedly. What I did not expect was that he was not only unpleasant to deal with, but he was neglectful to think of health consequences of us eating any animal products, which we explained to him numerous times. Despite after speaking to the manager, I can see that this attitude and negligence is quite a common occurrence upon “Dillon Thai” employees. Extending even as far as the owner, with a worse extent of the behavior. I am quite appalled the owner instead of taking any accountability whatsoever, decided to argue and get aggressive on the phone, and then decided to say that he was not the one who did in his response. Seeing as how this has happened, it is clear the owner has escalated this to beyond a fixable issue with...
Read moreWe had a slightly negative/confusing experience here - We're vegetarians, and figured Thai food would be a safe option (we even checked the menu and reviews beforehand). While ordering, we find out the ALL the curries have shrimp paste in them, significantly reducing the vegetarian entree options to just 2 soups and 2 stir fries, and maybe a fried rice or so.. Salads were out of the question too. On top of that, when discussing options/substitutions with the waiter we asked if they have a vegetarian/vegan friendly pad thai, the response we got verbatim was: "The pad thai has fish sauce in it. If we didn't add fish sauce, it wouldn't be pad thai". If we're talking authenticity, Thai food is one of the most vegetarian-friendly cuisines in the world. Maybe we're spoiled by the options we get on the west coast and by food we ate when actually traveling to Thailand, but either way, not the greatest experience. From whatever we did order, I should note that the Tom Yum soup was great, along with the tofu stir fry. Mango sticky rice...
Read moreSaw this place had a perfect review score, and was sceptical, so we went to try it out.
Just got an order of chicken pineapple curry rice to go. Was told it would take 10-15 minutes. The man greeting and taking orders was incredibly polite.
It actually took just 5 min to get our order ready, which made me worried it would just be thrown together, but it looked great when I checked it and it tasted great (very fresh veggies too).
My biggest shock was that this place was relatively slow when we went, it had great prices service and food. I couldn't recommend it more.
If you have never tried pineapple curry rice, check it out, they put the spice on the side so if you can't handle hot you should be fine, and if you like it hot you can add all the spice you want.
I will be back to check out the other dishes, this place is a real gem.
Oh I forgot to note, the place was extremely clean, I had to stop by the bathroom and it was...
