Restaurant Review: Nozawa Sushi & Hibachi

Nestled in Avon, Colorado, Nozawa Sushi & Hibachi is a hidden gem that offers an unforgettable dining experience. With its exceptional food, attentive service, and lively ambiance, this restaurant earns a well-deserved 5/5.

Food: The sushi at Nozawa is a masterpiece. Every roll bursts with flavor, showcasing the freshest ingredients and masterful preparation. The Mountain Roll and Dragon Roll are standout favorites, with perfectly balanced flavors and stunning presentation. The sashimi is equally impressive—silky, fresh, and melt-in-your-mouth perfection.

The hibachi experience is just as remarkable. Watching the skilled chefs prepare meals tableside is both entertaining and a feast for the senses. From the perfectly cooked steak to the savory fried rice and vegetables, every bite was a delight.

Service: The staff at Nozawa goes above and beyond to make every visit memorable. The servers are friendly, knowledgeable, and attentive, ensuring that every guest feels valued. The hibachi chefs, in particular, bring energy and charisma to the table, creating a fun and engaging experience for everyone.

Ambiance: Nozawa strikes the perfect balance between casual and upscale. The sushi bar is sleek and inviting, while the hibachi tables create a lively and interactive atmosphere. It’s an excellent spot for celebrations, family dinners, or a romantic night out.

Overall: Nozawa Sushi & Hibachi is a must-visit for anyone in the area. Whether you’re a sushi enthusiast or a hibachi fan, this restaurant delivers in every way. With its outstanding food, top-notch service, and vibrant atmosphere, Nozawa is a dining destination you’ll want to return to again and...

Horrible service. Mediocre-at-the-very-best food. DON'T WASTE YOUR TIME. Poorly seated immediately next to the door when it was 25F outside. I had to ask for a menu. When my dumpling soup came out the server [seemingly hispanic male, between 20 and 30, tattoo sleeve on his left arm] basically played ultimate frisbee with the soup dish, sloshing soup on the table and gave no apology. The water jugs on our table were ignored for being refilled. He incorrectly told us which sushi rolls were which. When it came time to pay he brought back the cash payment of one group member who payed $26 for a $25.25 meal and he said "Just a one dollar tip...?" and we had to tell him that tip was already included in the bill according to the rules of the establishment. I asked to pay with a prepaid $50 card and he attempted once, it didn't go through, and he refused to attempt it again per my request. A good server would attempt to type in the card number as a last resort. I paid with cash and he kept my coin change without asking. He didn't give one of our members their card back and claimed that he already did. He had to tell the server to go back to check and upon that request his card was found back at the register. Bad experience. This server was very...

Fun and exciting environment. Feels like a party when you go, with the excitement and entertainment of chefs performing at the grill for the cheers of patrons. The food has a wonderful flaver. Even the light sauce on the seafood combination plate is surprisingly refreshing. It was the first time, I had it where it was not bland and yet was still mildly seasoned, giving it a perfect balance, allowing the flavors of the seafood to come through while still tantalizing your taste buds with additional flavors. A pure joy to find among the mundane souless restaurants out there. Even the ramen was well made with the broth, having taken time and care to slowly simmer its flavors together for an authentic (not instant mass produces restaurants package) broth that is perfectly seasoned. Paired with meat that is tender and flaverful, lifted the experience even higher. Truly magnificent. The servers are tentative and pay close attention to your needs. Without even telling them, they recognized it was our anniversary and gave us a complimentary fried banana dessert that topped the evening of with a sweet and crispy joyful adventure that paired will with the soft and sugary filling of banana. I highly recommend trying this out for a fun and...

My wife and I were looking for a light dinner after a day of skiing the spring slush. So we took the drive down from Breck and tried out Nozawa. We had to pick up some groceries and items for the dog so it made the choice pretty easy as the restaurant is located in the same mall as Petco and City Market. Parking was easy and we were seated quickly. Not sure I'd describe the staff as friendly but it was efficient. We ordered some Sashimi, Hamachi Kama (grilled Yellowtail collar), and a yellowtail appetizer. All were pretty good - and if you haven't tried the grilled collar you really should. It's really delicious and haven't really had a bad one across many, many different restaurants. Because it isn't that popular it is usually inexpensive too. Overall it was a good meal and would recommend the place if you're looking for some good Japanese food up in the mountains.

This Chinese sushi joint is just awful. I ordered the 12 piece nigiri and my first bite was the tako nigiri (octopus sushi). For the life of me, I couldn't chew thru the tako! It was rubbery like a tire! Of course, I had to spit it back out! I informed the waiter and he said he can replace it with my choice of nigiri, which I thought was cool. However, I continue on with the other nigiri and yes they all had that old fishy taste and substance! I had to down my Sapporo to somehow get rid of that old fishy taste in my mouth! Tables were sticky. The booster chair for my 3yr old was just nasty sticky and it had gunk on it. I tried wiping it down with my baby wipes. Nope. Didn't help. The wasabi was stale and had no wasabi spiciness to it. That's the biggest no no.
