Ever walk into a restaurant and feel every eye on you as you nervously enter, get greeted and sit?
I went with the same group of people this year that were all served last year⊠Hereâs our newest experience as of July 27th, 2024; 9:35pm
El Pipil had a full house of other Hispanic people and me and my five friends came in to eat dinner. Waitress brought us to our table; she took a while to get us menus. We waited and had enough time to figure out what drinks and meals to order.
After many moments of being stared-at and pointed-by other Hispanic bystanders, at the bar and in the other dining area; We were approached by two staff members who told us the âkitchen was closedâ. The male and female employees tried to apologize and make some excuses but I told my group to âget upâ and leave immediately. Just as we were walking out they brought out food to a table. Even as we walked into the parking lot several Hispanic people pulled up in a beat-up white truck and entered the building sat down and ever served menus.
We called the store and were told that the kitchen closed at 9:30, yet online it still says 10:00 pm.
We really hoped it wasnât a race thing but it was when we sat in the parking lot and saw other Hispanics walk in and get their order taken. My entire group was shocked, we all different colors and couldnât believe of all people to kick us out it would be the Hispanics.
(First Review: July 2023) After being turned away from a restaurant at 8:30 pm on a Sunday. My large party of 6 was graciously seated and served by the sweetest woman at El Pipil. The food came out quick and...
Read moreSo the hubs and I went for dinner. From the reviews I was expecting really good food but the reality is that the food was average. First off this is more a local, mom and pop restaurant so dont expect much in decor and ambiance. I had pineapple juice and it tasted like pineapple juice out the can that was watered down. The pupusa for appetizer was hands down really good. The Hawaiian fajitas was ok, lacked much flavor but nicely presented in a pineapple and was served sizzling hot. The rice had good flavor but was cold. Tortillas was nice and hot. My fish was fried nicely, but again lacked much flavor. The plaintains was another really food dish. Overall, not bad but I wouldn't be in a...
Read moreOk, El Pipil Restaurant (pronounced Pee-Peel)(I know, funny, right!? I bet you will always remember it that way...lol) anyways, it is not visible from the main road but if you are near Lowe's Dover search "latino food" and it should pop out on the first 5 searches. The food was very good as it looks in the pictures, lots of flavors and spicy if you wanted it spicy. Since we went late at night there was almost no wait time. The tables are lovely decorated with beautiful carvings resembling typical scenarios of latin culture and don Freddy is wonderful host (as long as he is not busy :) but he'll always try...
