I came in on New Year's Eve and my cashier, Katherine was rude, argumentative, and clearly biased. Katherine asked the couple in front of me if one of them had I.D., but was insistent on getting I.D. from both me and my 11-year-old daughter! I repeatedly informed Katherine of my child's age and that children don't carry identification. After the 4th time of me telling her my child's age, I mentioned that she was my child. Katherine then said, "Oh, I didn't know you were her mother." What does it matter when I'm an adult with a child? She could have been my niece or my cousin. She didn't ask the Caucasian couple in front of us what their relation was. I can understand if parties are being carded to ensure that adults aren't buying alcohol for the underaged. But when I told her that my child was 11, that should have been the end of it. Especially since she didn't card the Caucasian male and female that were in front of me, and clearly younger than me. She gave them a choice of who would show her identification. But for us African Americans, it was a different process. I was the bigger person and ended the back and forth once she stated that she didn't know that I was the mother to my daughter. So, there should have been no more issues. But to make matters worse, as I was walking away, I could hear Katherine negatively talking about my daughter and me as if she hadn't just profiled us. After the embarrassment of being loudly talked about and being made to look like my daughter and I were doing something wrong, we wanted to end our Boston trip. The only mistake we made was coming to this location. After many years of patronage at my local Total Wine stores, I am disgusted at the way were treated by Katherine in that store. Policies should be equitable. Not...
Read moreThe store personal was rude, specifically the manager on duty and the cashier, we first brought our purchases up and the cashier asked us for our id's. My friend simply made a joke and said he forgot his id in the car, then said he was just joking laughingly, then cashier then said "do you want to know what I would say to that" we said sure, then she said "I would tell you to get out of the store" no laugh no nothing, just compleyely rude and a very unhappy employee, notging what I have experienced at other total wines around the country. Now comes the unproffesional manager we brought a bottle up that's column was filled all the way to the way to the back with the same bottle and it ended up being mis labled we asked if they would charge us the same price as what is was labeled as since they mis labeled it, and instead of being professional and telling us that he couldn't because mislabeling a product isn't un their guidelines for discounting an item or whatever it is, he simply told us that "if we didnt like the price we could go to another store and buy it" completely rude and unproffesional, I have been to total wines all around the country, and hundreds of times to my home location in Albuquerque, and I have never been treated badly once, I came to total wine out here believing I would have the same experience as I did as every other total wine I've been to. This unfortunately tarnished my image that every total wine is the same great friendly alcohol store I've learned to love, no matter where I am. Only reason thus gets 2 stars is due to the fact that Tom, who was on the sample table was more than helpful and was...
Read moretoday i went into the store in everett accompanied by my father. i’m under the age of 21 and ALWAYS, when entering a liquor store i am accompanied by my guardian. i’ve also been to this liquor store multiple times with my mother. my dad went inside and purchased beer and a coca-cola bottle. he was holding the beer and i was holding the coca-cola. when inside any liquor store i never touch any of the products because i’m under the age. as we go to check out the cashier asks my dad for his ID, my dad shows him his ID and then the cashier asks for my ID. I obviously didn’t have an ID because again, i’m under the age. the cashier told us that he could not sell liquor to minors, which is a valid point, but i was clearly not the one paying. my dad had the cash in his hand and the cashier said he couldn’t take it. He calls another store associate and she explains to us that minors cannot purchase alcohol. Again, i was not the one purchasing. i felt like a target because i thought i was doing something wrong. i found it odd because when i go with my mom, there’s never a problem. i forgot to mention that my parents are different skin tones :) this was not a pleasant experience at all. i was frustrated because like i said before, every time i go with my mom there’s never a problem. later on, i googled the store policies and they stated that no one under the age of 21 was allowed to enter the store UNLESS they were accompanied...
