The food was great, and the service was awesome! The freaking steak bites appetizer was god-damned delicious, and it was huge! Easily could be ordered as a fish in its own right.

The only problem we had was that our burgers, both of which we had ordered medium-rare, were extremely overcooked. The rest of the sandwich was was perfect, just the patty had been cooked incorrectly. I brought this to the attention of the waiter when he returned to ask how everything was, and the waiter immediately offered to have new burgers made, which I declined as I'd already eaten about a third of the burger, and as my intent was only to inform so the cooks would be more careful for other customers in the future (though it was cooked far beyond my liking, it was by no means inedible, so I wouldn't have felt right sending it back).

The waiter double and triple-checked to be sure we didn't want to have new burgers made, and I thanked him but still declined, explaining my reasons for declination. And i considered the matter settled. No big deal.

However, when we were brought our check, the waiter explained that he'd spoken with the manager, and they had discounted 20% off our total order to make up for the disappointment of the burger patties. I had not asked for, nor was I expecting a discount on our meal, but they had done so voluntarily, and for that alone they have earned my future business. Getting to eat the steak bites again will just be an excellent perk.

Note: I have read in other reviews that over-cooked burger patties can be an issue here, but that making a point of asking that yours be cooked to a lower level (i.e. medium-rare, medium, etc.) will usually solve that problem. Not the case in our case, but they made up for it in spades. I will...

I have lived in Fairbanks for 12 years and I have visited Brewster's three times. All three times they have brought me cold french fries. The previous two times I requested fresh ones and I swear they just dip them back in the oil and brought them to me. I was reluctant to go but a friend of mine insisted saying it was her favorite place. It wasn't because of the food I sure you but because she had friends who work there. I ordered a bacon burger $14.99 including fries. They didn't ask me how I wanted it and I didn't say as I was not thinking. They brought it to me virtually Charco. There was no juice left in it whatsoever. I prefer mine medium rare. They also brought me cold fries but they replace them with warm ones quickly. The waitress was friendly and efficient I can't say the same for the cook. I swear they had cooked these patties for the lunch rush which didn't come and had left them on the grill and anticipation of an order. When finally we showed up they were well past their prime time. I am not impressed with the quality of any of their food and I make specially not impressed with the cost. I don't go out to eat to party and I'm guessing that's the clientele they are counting on. I go out to eat quality food I don't want to...

First time at Brewsters Northgate and we really enjoyed our meal. Everything was served quickly and exactly as we ordered it. I do think some of the menu items are priced a bit unreasonably. My husband got a double portion of halibut but for instance the single serving is $18.99- if you look at our receipt my daughter got a simple chicken quesadilla for $17.49- no sides with it just a tortilla, a few bits of chicken and some cheese for almost the same price as halibut. I got a grilled chicken sandwich for almost $18 also. It just seems odd to price a quesadilla so extremely high in comparison to more of a specialty item like halibut. Also, the kids meals advertise in the menu to add a drink for $1.50 yet they charge $2.99 on the receipt. We didn’t have time to mess with the server about that but it is something to be aware of when you go. Our server was fantastic and very polite and prompt so zero issues there! Also- the raspberry sauce on the chicken sandwich was fantastic! Really enjoyed that unique flavor pairing! Overall we really enjoyed our meal, but the price was pretty steep for an early dinner and I’ll definitely need to steer my child away from the $18 quesadilla...
