This used to be a place I loved going to growing up and through the years. It had been years actually since I've eaten here. The place used to be packed, and I recall having to wait for tables, especially on a weekend night. It was quite desolate. There were maybe 2-3 other tables seated of 1 guest/table. It was a go to place for comfort food.
It took quite some time, like 10 minutes, to get seated even with very few customers. The tables didn't feel clean and were sticky.
We had a table of 7 guests. Our friends arrived a few minutes later, but they weren't brought to our table, I had to summon them over. Then, another table of 7 was seated. Then another table of 2.
It was pretty disappointing that the other two tables placed their orders ahead of us. We waited nearly 30 minutes to place our order and another 30 minutes for the food. The waitress was friendly and did apologize for the wait. The other 2 tables left before we received our food.
I was so looking forward to a turkey dinner, but the food was lukewarm. It didn't come with the cranberry sauce, but the waitress was kind and brought it after asking for it. My son ordered a side of corn, and that was missing.
It would have been a better experience if they had more staff or worked as a team for the customers because there was one staff folding silverware, so not sure why she couldn't help the server. Then, another staff member was washing tables and took care of the cash register later. The server should have asked the other tables to wait to place their order since we had been seated first of the 3 tables and only table with children.
I felt for the server as she was apologetic and probably overworked but just needs a better process for the ordering.
The kids did like their burgers and sides. The chicken noodle soup was tasty. The chocolate chip cookies were included in the kid's meals and are as tasty as I recall. The steak dinners were good but those who ordered them, thought they were so tiny.
We had somewhere to be even though we went 2 hours prior to our next event. I had to ask the gal folding napkins for a box and the bill.
Unfortunately, I don't know when we'll return or if we'll return. I feel like maybe this is an unfortunate turn that has changed many restaurant businesses...
Read moreThis is about the Perkins in Fargo. The Manager was very nice. He seated me & explained there was only one server (her name was either Whitney or Ashley).
I heard him tell the server--she was doing silverware wraps--that he was seating me. She didn't move. A few minutes later, a whyte woman was brought in, seated and the server was up in a flash and took her drink order.
The manager saw this go down, and he brought me a water--which I had not received up to this point. But he was in a situation where he can say something to this racist woman, or risk losing the only server he had for the evening--I get it and he did what he could to salve the situation but she wasn't doing her job which made his job all the more difficult.
So, he said nothing--I get it, but also have some backbone, too. At this point, I am asking myself two questions: As a blaq man, do I insist on the right to be served (and pay for that insistence) as a paying customer who tips very well, or do I keep my $$ and go home & make my own scrambler platter & pancakes?
While pondering this question, the server came back and took that whyte woman's order and I got up and left. Stopped by the Aldi, bought maple syrup, went home & cooked. Meant to drop this on google reviews, but forgot until I received mail from Perkins this morning.
For over a decade, I would go do my work at Perkins, drink coffee, have some food, got to know the staff and cooks, maintained a good rapport, and have spent probably a thousand or two $$ at Perkins. Never really had any problems, either.
But, to be treated like I was invisible . . . I want to let it go, but can't. I reached out to corporate and sent them a shorter version of what I am posting here. I used to grade/work/study at the Perkins in Roseville, where they'd set up their back area for students and faculty to work late into and thru the night (pre-Pandemic, of course). I/We used to frequent the ones in Edina and in Roseville regularly. Been to the Moorhead one, once. It's always busy. Never before tried the Fargo one until this...
Read moreI am giving one star because I have to. Don't come here.. go to Burger King or Acapulco's, before here. I have repeatedly ordered Doordash, and 2 chicken strips appetizer, one for right away, and one for later. The menu says with honey mustard, right? You would think I would get 2 cups of honey mustard.. I would get 1 and one of ranch. And this happened NUMEROUS times so I quit ordering. It happened once to confirm 2 dipping sauces of honey mustard no ranch. A couple weeks ago, I ordered Doordash again. It was chicken strips and mozzarella sticks.. ice cold where grease was starting to harden, and NO sauces at all. Last time, just last week I ordered food for carry out. Went into restaurant to order.. I got chicken strips with honey mustard, that was nice and hot.. my roomie also had me order a bacon cheeseburger with fixings, and fries. He didn't get the fries, he didn't get the bacon, and no fixings, I believe it was a meat patty and bun. I was charged for the food though.
The following day, I called in to talk to a manager.. she was shocked basically.. she said she would look into it, and give me a call back. I have received no call back, and when I just tried to call, it was 7 or 8 times it kept ringing to hang up. Last week, it wasn't that many, but was at least 3 or 4.. I asked doesn't anyone answer the phone? She's like it was turned down the ringer. What restaurant turns their phone down to not accept calls? I'm guessing it would be different if during a rush, but I did not call during rush cause I knew they would be busy. I was being courteous, something the restaurant lacks.
Run away.. very far away.. don't eat here if you want to spend money and don't get your...
