Ah, the Yak, the birthplace of my Indian food obsession. I’m not sure what first made me try this place. I’d driven past it a hundred times on 25th before really paying attention. Maybe it was the goofy name, or just wanting to try something different, but boy is this place the real deal. In all seriousness, Himalayan Yak has the best Indian/ Nepali food I have ever tried. Their Tikka Masala is especially a superstar, I mean I can’t even make up how darn good it is. At first, I thought it was possibly just because it was the first place I tried- so you know, it’s a honeymoon phase in my mind and nothing will beat my first time trying. But as I’ve been to more and more Indian places I realized it’s not that, it’s just because Yak is straight good. Yak knows how to spice it. Everything I’ve tried just has been amazing- the spice levels are just right where other places mess it up. The Tikka and Rogan Josh are my favorites to date. And they cook their lamb exactly right, it’s so soft and tender and brings tears of joy to my eyes. (I love my Indian food, okay?) Thank you Yak for existing.

I guess one of the main reasons my wife and I come to the Himalayan Yak, other than we enjoy Indian food, is they are open Mondays. I did enjoy the old location on 25th a little better than this location. The Himalayan Yak has a nice but small lunch buffet. We spent approximately 36 dollars between the two of us which included the full buffet and a drink. You seat yourself when you walk in and don't pay until you are ready to leave. The food is generally good, warm to hot, although a few of the dishes could use a little more flavor, especially the Chicken Tikka Masala. I don't mean spicy hot, I am talking about bland versus flavorful. It would also be nice if the Naan Bread would be brought out fresh and hot and offered at the tables rather than sitting in a warmer on the buffet. I have seen this done at a few Indian buffets in larger cities. If you have not tried the Himalayan Yak I definitely would suggest you give it a try.

Nothing special. The food in the buffet looks good, but lacks any flavor. Nothing stood out in a good way. The naan felt warm but everything else seemed like it had been sitting there for quite a while. A lot of the food needed constant mixing due to the lack of people eating there. There were only 2 people when I arrived there at 11:30am. When I left at 12:05pm, only 2 other people had come in to eat. I should've walked out and went elsewhere right when I saw how empty it was - lesson learned for next time. $12.95 +tax for this weekend buffet was pricey. There was a sad sound on the speaker. Traditional Indian music would have helped create a better vibe. The restaurant staff were on their phones while we ate, which didn't look professional. One was watching a video, which was too loud. This was my 2nd time here and after both times being disappointing, I will not be back unless this restaurant improves.

The food is always delicious here, however, the wait time is shocking. I called in an order at 5:50 and was told it would be ready by 6:30. As I stood waiting for my order more and more people came in, standing and waiting. People at tables weren’t getting served. I noticed three tables that were there before I came in not getting any service and were just waiting. One man got up to ask why the wait was so long and another man asked about his order and said that he had been waiting 2 hours. By 7:15, I decided I had waited long enough and decided to ask for my money back, however, the waitress couldn’t figure out the bill of the people ahead of me and that took 15 minutes for her figure out. Finally, my food arrived at 7:30. There was no apology, no offer of a discount, nor was there anything to show that they felt bad about the wait. As I left, the group if girls left also and said that the wait was ridiculous and they had waited 2 hours at their table for the food (they hadn’t ordered as take out and were actually eating in the restaurant). There seemed to be only two people working: one chef and one hostess who was handling the till, all phone calls, waitressing, and bussing tables. She was so busy at the till and with the phone that she couldn’t make it to the tables. Unfortunately, this isn’t the first time I’ve had to wait a long time for food, however, this is the longest I’ve had to wait. Thinking it would be just a quick stop, I brought my child and he had to sit in the car with my sister for an hour. If there had been some sort of apology or showing of understanding that the wait time was too long, I would’ve been more forgiving. I am giving a 1 star review only because the food is...

I'm sitting in my car writing this, wondering why today was the first time I've tried this place. The gentleman at the front door was quiet but very nice. The experience starts off as simple as it gets: walk in, declare how many is in your party, grab a plate and fill it up. Eat what you want and don't waste. Pay. Plan to go back next week. Very clean restaurant and an exceptionally welcoming atmosphere. The food was visually pleasing, dare I say beautiful. The taste - fresh and vibrant. Food temperature was nice and hot as well. Spice level was mild and I suspect they do this as a perfect way to introduce you to their offerings without melting your face off. However, I imagine if you asked them to melt your face off, they would gladly oblige you with firey spices from the kitchen. Nothing was overly salty, greasy or overdone. The seasonings used here were very balanced. The naan bread was warm, soft and foldable. Both rice options had the perfect texture to them. I tried a little bit of everything; the tikka masala and tandoori chicken highlighting the meal. To round out my lunch, I sipped on a delicious and fresh cup of chai tea, which is complementary to the buffet. I will DEFINITELY be visiting this place again. Oh, and sorry I didn't take any pictures. I was literally too busy stuffing my face....

Awesome food but filthy place! The food is awesome but their cleaning protocol is absolutely disgusting! We’ve been there a few times now because the food is really really good. However, we’ve noticed their table cleaning protocol is absolutely disgusting. I kid you not, on more than one occasion after guests have left, we’ve seen the guy clearing the table and using the used napkin from the previous patron to wipe down the table, the same napkin the guest used to wipe their nose and mouth! Furthermore, this guy proceeded to use his fingers to pick up the little bits and pieces of crumbs remaining on the table. That table, without ever being wiped down with spray or a wash bucket etc., was then seated with new guests. On our last visit, while paying our tab, I noticed the guy clearing our table again used my napkin, which I had just wiped my runny nose in, to wipe down the table! Take a look at these tables and you will notice they are absolutely disgusting! The food is great but you’ll have to be able to stomach the notion that the table you are seated at was in all likelihood wiped off with a used costumer napkin and never once wiped down with any kind of cleaning agent or...
