Please read update after the original post! I had the worst experience with customer service here I've ever had in my entire life. My boyfriend went to check in around 9:30pm and Megan, the woman working the front desk, was talking on her phone and hadn't even noticed he was there. By the time we got checked in, he immediately asked about a crib or pack and play for our one year old because the room we reserved had stated online that one would be available and provided to us. She couldn't even answer the question, said she would call her manager, and ring our room with an answer. An hour later, my boyfriend calls the desk, again was Megan, and she said "sorry I spaced it out and then I got busy." She spaced it out? It's now 10:30pm and I'm having difficulty getting my child to sleep because she only sleeps in a crib, by herself. Megan finally gets back to us about 15 minutes later, saying she checked storage and there was nothing but she texted her manager asking about it. So, I asked her why it took so long and she said she got busy. I then started to explain, POLITELY, what had happened when my boyfriend had arrived and before I could even get a sentence out she interrupts me with an attitude saying "let me stop you right there." Excuse me? As someone who has worked in customer service, the least you could do is let me find out where the issue occurred and you could at least listen as to why we are upset. Megan then told me that I could contact her manager, in which case I said yes and I took the managers name and number because as a customer, I did not appreciate her attitude. Megan's response? "If you're going to give attitude, you're going to get attitude." I am not someone who complains, or ever writes a review, however, the anger and frustration I felt during my stay made me want to do more than just complain to a manager and write this review. I will NEVER be staying here again.
UPDATE: I later contacted the hotel and spoke with the manager. She immediately apologized and offered a refund on the room. She explained that Megan was let go the next morning, and that behavior like that will not be tolerated. I absolutely appreciate the fact that I did not have to explain what happened, as she was already well aware, and was willing to solve the problem right away. If my family and I stay in the area again, we would be more than willing to give Fargo Inn another chance because Mauna, the manager, handled this in a very professional manner. This is the type of customer service that I was hoping for, and I'm glad I called and...
Read moreTerrible experience. Rating two stars vs one only for the price of $70/night. We wanted a cheap place only to sleep as graduation weekend had us busy all day. We didn't eat the breakfast that is raved about, but my in-laws did and they didn't have anything to "rave" about it.
The rooms are small as are the beds (we had a king that felt like a queen, they had a queen that looked like a full). The room had poor lighting! The only lights in the main rooom were two lamps with different colored bulbs. We read a review before booking stating the room smelled like farts... We laughed then. We aren't now. It had a musty, old smell. I guess it is an older hotel, but despite remodeling (as they claim) it smells old.
The best part? When we are sleeping, exhausted from our day, we are both woke up suddenly and in an instant panic as the fire alarm went off at 1am. It went off 5 more times after that. There was no fire or evacuation. No one knows why as we learned at check out. The staff didn't know. Their excuse was a pizza could have burned at the bar and set off the alarm. Five times? Regardless we didn't know what we should be doing. Apparently another patron was next to the fire doors and also complained that they kept slamming shut after each alarm. But again people we going back and forth not knowing what to do and night staff failed to provide any details. Day staff shrugged it off nonchalantly when brought up as if this is a regular occurrence.
Overall cheap night stay. You get what you pay for or less. Probably works best for the older generation especially those...
Read moreWe stayed here in August of 2024 as well as this August and both times our stay was very good. The rooms are clean and “Dove” shampoo, conditioner and body wash and hair dryer is supplied. There is a bar fridge and microwave. |As with many American hotel/motels, there was no place to recycle our soda cans or plastic bottles etc. Looking forward to that happening in the near future 😊|Good coffee is available by the front desk. No need to have a coffee maker in your room. The breakfast has scrambled eggs and one meat each day. Make- your-own pancakes, waffles and packaged oatmeal. Cold cereals, Fuji apples, cold hard boiled eggs, individual yogurts, cartons of milk and applesauce. Various types of bagels, sweet carb offerings, white and whole wheat bread with real butter or margarine, cream cheese, peanut butter and jam. The plates are compostable. The breakfast room is clean and kept freshly supplied by a friendly attendant. |Our TV did not work and immediately after they discovered it could not be fixed, purchased a new TV and installed it in our room. They also accepted a parcel for us that was delivered to the motel. |There is a bar attached with restaurants and lots of shopping very close by.|I assume because of the political climate causing the decline of Canadian visitors, we were given a nice discount on our room rate. |The motel is older and some corners of the room were a bit worn, but it’s clean and friendly. |Highly recommend Fargo...
