Update to all this nonsense. Tried staying here again after all of the nonsense listed below and they screwed it up even worse. They have continually billed the wrong card, messed up payments, and blamed me. They have charged my personal card (instead of the buisness card they have on file for my company) for a total of $310.84 in the last 24hrs. GET YOUR BILLING FIGURED OUT PEOPLE. Then my company calls to extend my reservation, they billed my personal card AGAIN, yet I get here and they have no reservation for me... already billed me, billed the wrong card, yet no reservation and claim someone else already had the room i had yesterday. This is dumbfounding. 20 minutes later, they suddenly have the room I was in last night available again. Bathroom cleaned and fresh towels, yet bed is still exactly as I left it.... and to whomever is reading this at AmericInn, contrary to what you told my HR lady when she called you, I STILL am not using a debit card as you continue to claim. It is a VISA credit card issued by USBank with an extremely high limit. My card is not the issue, your system is, and you owe me $310.84, which will be fully returned by Sept. 12th or they will be turned into fraud charges with Visa.
Original review: Decent enough rooms. But they force a $100 deposit on your room. It's been nearly a week now since my 1 night stay for a work trip and I havnt gotten my $100 back. Tried calling 5 times and it just sends you to a full voicemail account. I will update this if or when I get my $100 deposit back. Seems awfully darn scammy to me.
Update to the response: this is my 2nd time staying, the first time the deposit was returned the next day. It isn't an issue with my bank, they have received no refund from you. As for the room being acceptable, it was a work trip, I didn't even turn the TV on and I was checked out by 6am and I even made the bed (as I always do). That room inspection should have been the fastest your employees had ever ran across. But here we are, a week later and no refund initiated by the hotel.
Response #2 to your updated response: it's a visa credit card through USbank. My only option is to claim fraud, which will suspend my only credit card and reissue me a new card with a new number... I should not have to re setup all of my auto pay items and pay to have a new card issued to resolve a problem that is not my fault. You billed my card $100, you can return it. This should not in any realm be something I have to do in exchange for staying at your hotel for 11hrs and leaving your room spotless.
Update #3 to the most recently updated response: after the 9th call I finally got through to someone, she was helpful enough and told me I would get a call back after speaking to the manager, the next morning, the refund was pending. Thank you for resolving it. My only complaint is that you accused the issue of being on my end for multiple days, and then suddenly within 10hrs of finally getting through to someone, a refund was issued. So obviously the issue was not on my end after all, just as I had stated in the very beginning. Thanks for fixing it, but maybe don't be do eager to blame the...
Read moreI stayed here for one night. The room was reasonably clean, but the owners of this location appear to have an insatiable greed.
One of the worst things was the mini snack bar fully stocked with overpriced items right at a child's level. Thankfully I don't have children, but I would absolutely not recommend staying here with children. You will either accrue excessive room charges, or you will have tears. I can't believe how unethical this is. There is also tacky signage about additional fees posted prominently around the hotel.
But the main reason for the one star is that even though I stayed here for only one night, the property has absolutely bombarded my email inbox with requests for reviews. Think about how much corporate spam you might expect from a mustache-twirlingly greedy scrooge, and at least triple that! I'm not overstating it when I say the spam has been excessive. I must have 8 - 10 emails in my inbox, all from this property, after (and I cannot stress this enough) one night at this hotel! The spam continued even after I requested it to stop. In fact, I just had two more emails in my inbox this morning!
Next time I'm in Fargo, I will go well out of my way not to stay at this location, and my experience has honestly soured me for staying at an AmericInn in general. I really hope corporate will read this review and reach out to the owners because they are doing a real disservice to the brand.
Provide a good experience (without snacks in the room), and good reviews will follow. Annoy people with spam, and we...
Read moreWish I could give 0 stars. I booked this room for my mom who was visiting over Monday and Tuesday checking out on Wednesday. She has stayed here a couple times before when we first moved here 2 years ago. We had no issues then so we booked again for this trip. At check in the front desk told my mom it was a $15 per day pet fee. My mom payed cash, no big deal we didn't look it up online beforehand. I brought my kids we swam had fun then left to come back the next day. While we were swimming the next day the manager came in and told my mom is was $5 per non guest. He got very rude with her about it. This was a Tuesday afternoon, we were the only people in the pool. We looked around and there was no sign anywhere saying there was a $5 per person fee to swim. After my mom paid and while we were still swimming he HAND WROTE a sign and posted it on the door. My 4 year old stayed the night with her and while they were leaving the pool that evening he asked (as they were passing the front desk) if they could swim in the morning. When my mom got up that morning to get breakfast there was ANOTHER hand written sign saying the pool was closed until noon (after check out, how convenient). I went online to check on the swimming fee and saw nothing, but I did see that the pet was was only $10 and not the $15 per night she was charged. While asking for her money back he got very rude again and tried to accuse her of having multiple pets and more people than listed when checking in. Just a...
