Aspen Deli Flagstaff — Restaurant in Flagstaff

We were passing thru Flagstaff after a long day on the road, having been at a lavender festival in Concho. We googled 'best sandwich in Flagstaff' and Aspen was second on that list but is now first on ours. The two employees Maria and Troy took great care of us. Maria made us excellent sandwiches. I had the veggie panini. It was simply delicious with fresh crisp veggies and what tasted like fresh made hummus. It was plentiful in size. We were given recommendations by Troy and as we waited for our made-from-scratch meal he also explained to us his passion for cooking good food and the secrets to the same: fresh ingredients, timing, and good company. We experienced all three at this locally owned/operated shop. It's a small place, so you might wait at peak times, but it would be worth it. We were there at 2 o'clock, no waiting. At first, I was underwhelmed because the place was so tiny, so I would need to preface this to say, not a place for large groups although they have take-out service. However.... my whole opinion changed the second I set foot in. First, Ruben was working that night and has the best smile that makes you feel right at home. He entertained endless questions from my 4 year old, and there were many. I ordered a bleu cheese sandwich, and a greek salad. The sandwich was comparable to that of something you would find at a high end deli. My husband enjoyed a decidedly good French Dip. My son had a grilled cheese because, well, he's four. After our bellies where full, we got some gelato that was omg soo good. The food was surprisingly good! But we'll return for the service...

We were just stopping by for a quick take out lunch and I was recommended the Cherry Street wrap. What unique flavors with dried cherries and pistachios. Real turkey, bacon. Homemade mayo and it all came with the nicest smile and compliment as it was on my 50th birthday holiday. The two people that run this place are, kind, not pushy and know their food. My husband had the Baja tuna and was over the moon with the flavors. Great work you guys. Would love to come back some day. And you both have the best smiles! 😊❤️ oh, and try the...
