So, this frozen yogurt (sorry, "yogaert") place is not for everyone. It wasn't for us. My wife and I were really excited that there was finally an opportunity again for frozen yogurt in town, and tried it out last night. Here's what I didn't like about it. (1) The environment. They had a boom box propping open the door that was blasting music both into and out of the store. This made it impossible for my wife and I to sit and converse while eating. A group of three people were standing in the middle of the place shouting at each other to be heard over the din. Amusingly, the people behind the counter seemed oblivious to this, as they attempted to engage us in conversation ("Is this your first time here?" I finally figured out) as soon as we had walked into the place. The store is cavernous, with little tables of kitsch for sale (gaudy tourist refrigerator magnets, for instance). There were glaring purple lights shining down on our table by the door. Simply: I found sitting there unpleasant. (2) The prices. People have commented on this already. My wife and I both filled our cups about 1/3rd full of the "product" and together it came to $23. That's a lot more than I've ever experienced at frozen yogurt shop. (3) The quality. There were only 5 flavors to choose from. One was labeled vegan; there was no indication if any of the others were low-fat or not. My wife and I kept it simple, just vanilla and chocolate. But the chocolate tasted like fudge syrup, and I don't rightly know how to describe the vanilla. I put a few blueberries and strawberries on but when I went to squirt some whipped cream out of a can, it came as a warm yucky melted blob. The cans weren't on ice or anything---just sitting out for who knows how long---and further spoiled the treat for me. On the positive side, the people behind the counter were very nice. Maybe you won't be put off as much by the environment or other things as we were---reading these comments I guess many others weren't bothered by them. So, to each their own. But we didn't like it, and we...
Read moreI really wanted to like this place and to support smaller businesses. Unfortunately, this just wasn't for me. The frozen yogurt wasn't all that frozen and was more of a loose, slushy texture. The flavors were very odd, artificial, and waxy tasting. Out of the 5 I sampled, only 1 was bareable. I'm not sure if they just haven't gotten their flavor mixing quite right or if it's intentional, but they didn't taste good. They also ask for tips at a self-serve froyo place, which doesn't make sense. Especially since you're paying about $12 to $15 bucks for 1 Froyo, and all they do is cash you out.
I also came for that art aspect of this place, but there really wasn't much to see. I thought the walls would be covered in local art and showcased around. I also wish the toppings were labeled because I grabbed what I thought were peanut m&ms but got something else, and it kinda messed up what I was going for.
They should also keep a lid or something over toppings to prevent them from getting stale and rock hard like majority of the ones I grabbed were. Unfortunately me and the person I came with ended up throwing ours away and getting some somewhere else, which is never what you want. You never want your customers to feel like they wasted their money. I say all this not to mean but because it has the potential to be a...
Read moreSadly I threw away my frozen yogurt (if you can even call it that) as soon as we left the shop. It was dirty inside, seemed to still be under construction, and had a broken machine that dumped hot water into our cups - with no sign or clear indication that this machine was not functioning properly. The toppings were a mess and looked picked over and not fresh. Upon checkout you are prompted to leave a tip - for what exactly I'm still unsure. You serve yourself and as I mentioned the surroundings were unkempt. I tipped anyway out of courtesy. I really should've tasted the yogurt first. It tasted as if it was about to go bad and had a very loose consistency, like it was melting. Someone else I believe compared it to ice milk. The two friends that joined me only ate the toppings off theirs and wound up throwing their froyo away too. They honestly have a great location and a lot of potential, but that's about it. I am not someone that wastes food but this was a total waste of money and was completely inedible....
