If you're not under 25 and a hipster dude with a beard, you're probably not gonna make it through the front door. I guess if mostly empty bar of all dudes is your kinda place, you'll love it! Came here last Saturday night with 6 other other smokin hot ladies for my sister's Bachelorette. We had a great time at the Monte V dancing the night away from 9pm - midnight (The DJ was fantastic that night. Wish I knew what his name was so we could find where he's playing next time we're in Flag.) Just after midnight we decided to check out what else downtown Flag had to offer. We walked by FlagBrew and saw the outdoor patio and wanted to order some beers and sit on the patio and chill for the rest of the night. As soon as we walked in the door the short bar back told us we looked like trouble and had to leave. We thought he was joking. You know, "You girls look like trouble ) No, he was serious. He was obviously high as a kite and I don't mean Mary Jane or knocking back a few shifties. He couldn't make eye contact and could barely even talk/stand like he was rolling on some Molly or a really good pain pill. Anyway, we asked the bartender if he was for real and she shrugged her shoulders and said we had to leave. At first I thought, well maybe they're having an illegal poker game in the back or maybe the intoxicated bar back is trying to poke the female bartender in the back and they're too busy trying to get busy to pour 7 beers! Oh well. Then after getting home today I read some other reviews on this place and it seems this a common thing for this place. That's fine. I get the hint, Door Man! You're just a door man, Door man. DOOR MAN! We're too old I guess. We ended up going back to Monte V to close out the awesome DJs set before walking back to Airbnb. I'll be back to Flagstaff (we're all AZ girls who spread our wings in Vegas) but not Flagstaff Brewery. Ever. That's fine though. I guess everybody needs their nitch. (Hipster dudes who like to drink beer with other hipster dudes and check out other's beards, THIS IS YOUR SPOT!) Photo of the Bachelorette party immediately after leaving FlagBrew just outside...
Read moreI love local breweries so it pains me to write this review but I feel that if you're like us and enjoy visiting local breweries when you travel, there are better options out there.
When we arrived there was no hostess, and it wasn't clear you were supposed to seat yourself. When we asked about this, we decided to sit on the patio as they had a band playing. We sat our there for several minutes and was never greeted by a server. My husband went inside to get a drink menu and ran into the server there. It was clear she was overwhelmed. After waiting several more minutes for her to return, we moved inside to see if we would get better service and b/c the music was too loud (the bass turned waaaay up for our us).
We had a different server, who was very sweet and apologized (all the servers were polite) for the wait (we waited...a lot). The beers we saw on the website were not correct and we were told it was because the owner was in his 70s and didn't update the site. I ended up not ordering a beer and drank some of my husband's. The burgers were good, the fries were OK.
My biggest observation (because I had plenty of time to observe) was the lack of anyone being in charge, and overall inefficiencies in processes. The servers had to take 20 steps when they could have organized things to only take 10. But the most unprofessional thing we observed was one of the servers going off about their coworker(s) to the bartender. It was completely unprofessional and littered with profanity. I'm sure she was at her breaking point, but it should have been handled in...
Read moreFood and beer selection isn’t bad. The service left something to be desired. I felt like I was intruding at times when I would order from the bartender, though other customers seemed to be on much better terms with her. Maybe it’s because I’m not a regular that she wasn’t as friendly/warm towards be because she didn’t know me, but would still recommend coming in for a visit.
The ambience is decent enough. Slightly divey, but not gross/dirty divey. There is plenty of seating and space that it does not feel too crowded even when there are a “lot” of people there, u you can still move around, but have enough customers to know that this place is legit and good enough to keep coming back to.
Definitely recommend stopping by and checking it out, and seeing what they have to offer.
I’m glad they have a wide selection of their own beer, partnerships with other breweries, and a pretty fantastic selection of other liquors and spirits available.
Their location is also optimal as it is right along downtown Flagstaff along 66, and near several other locations of interest, which makes that worth it to sit outside and enjoy a nice spring/summer/fall evening having a few drinks downtown before visiting the Orpheum, or hitting up a First Friday art walk, or even just exploring downtown flagstaff...
