never am i failed by aloha. whether eating in or getting delivery; food is always fresh, tasty, and satisfying. my usual order is half chicken katsu and half beef with mac salad, fries, and extra Katsu Sauce. the fries are thick and salted well, crisp on the outside and still fluffy inside. they pair perfectly with the beef, which is thin and seared hard on the flattop after being marinated. the mac salad is more basic than a southern style, consisting of just noodles with dressing and the slightest bits of carrot. however, while lacking in substance itself, it makes the perfect accompaniment to our other protein, the chicken katsu. chicken thighs pounded thin and fried in a panko batter, theyre crispy and fatty and play nicely with the creamy mac. the Katsu Sauce is perfect, sweet and salty with a slight heat. presumably its chili sauce based with soy and sesame to taste. overall, aloha bbq delivers every time i eat there, and gets a 5 star from me. the menu includes multiple other delicious options ranging from bbq to fish to fried rices, and they offer multiple bobas and smoothies as well as hawaiian juices. service is quick and curt, but efficient and polite. the restaurant itself may lack atmosphere but the downtown location and endless abundant crowds provide a fun vibe. whether you’re a local trying new restaurants for the first time or a passerby looking for lunch, be sure to give our friends at...

The food was ok. The girl who was behind the counter didn't say hello, can I help you, go to hell, nada.. she just stood there and stared at us. I assumed that meant she was ready to take our order, so I said, "Hello, how are you?" She just stared at me, so I ordered. She says, "That comes with x y z. Do you want that?" I said,"Oh no, thank you. Do you have pickles?" She says very tight-lipped."No." I said oh ok sorry. I felt like our being there bothered her or inconvenienced her.

When our food was ready, she just brought it and placed it on the counter, again SAID NOT A WORD. So we ask, is this ours? She nods, and we grab our food. We eat and leave as I walk out. I say HAVE A GOOD DAY. She still said nothing. The entire time, country music was blaring on the radio (which i didn't mind since the vibe was less than friendly). She was literally like that with every person who came in after us, so I don't think it was just us. I don't expect a song and dance as a server, but when I say hello, how are you? We got a take out order from here during COVID times (May 2020). Wow, it was AMAZING! It was so good I had to go back in after we ate and thank them for their amazing and delicious food. We got the spare ribs, beef bowl, and bbq chicken. The bbq chicken was mine and was the star! I want the recipe. It was simple yet so flavorful! Also, we got some musubi which my dad absolutely loves. The portion sizes on everything were large and filling! The calories are listed on the menu which I really appreciated and they let me substitute out some of the carb heavy rice for other items.
