A Total Disaster : UPDATE 4-29-24
Samantha did refund us the credit card difference. That being said the food is always great and we have always had good service so don’t hesitate to go there and eat thank you. Apr 2024 On Saturday, April 13, my wife and I and another couple went to eat lunch at Meehan's. The waitress name is Mechelle came to our table and asked what we want to drink. She was very personable and seemed very professional. They appeared to be rather busy, but eventually she came back and took our food order. That being said, the food was delicious as it has been every time we have been there. her service is the afternoon went on and got worse and worse to the point we waited almost 30 minutes before she came back to see if she could bring us our bill. We told her yes, and then I left to go to a cigar shop to pick up a lighter, 35 minutes later, my wife and our friends were still waiting on her to bring the bill. They went to the front counter and the man at the front door got the waitress to go get bill. Our bills werecompletely transposed the wrong orders for the wrong bill. Mechelle said she went to see the manager to straighten out the bill and it is still not straight. On top of that, my wife was very frustrated after waiting, almost an hour to be able to pay decided not to leave her a tip. on top of having our bills messed up l have a copy of the receipt for $46. My wife's credit card got hit for $76.Mechelle never got the bill straight, then tipped herself for terrible service after supposedly getting with the manager. Very unprofessional and I doubt that we will ever go back. We go to Saint Augustine every year and every year we eat there and have been for 10 or 12 years, I would appreciate a response and the ability to speak with someone, thank you
UPDATE: Samantha lived up to her word, they did refund us the difference in the credit...
Read moreWe were visiting from out of town and really excited to try Meehan’s since we don’t have any authentic Irish pubs back home. The place was packed on 7/26/25 around 9 PM, which we took as a good sign. We walked up to the front door, held it open, and tried to step inside. Right at the entrance, a group of people was blocking the walkway near the hostess stand. She was actively talking to them, so we waited just a few seconds, assuming they were being helped.
Instead, the hostess (who we didn’t catch the name of, but she was a younger girl with dark brunette hair) snapped her neck around at us and told us to close the door. No hello. No welcome. Just that. I asked if the people in front of her were waiting to be seated, and she rolled her eyes and completely ignored me. The people standing there looked at us, shook their heads no, and didn’t move an inch.
What made it even worse is that I’m 26 weeks pregnant and had walked quite a distance just to get there. I was looking forward to sitting down, having a nice meal, and resting my feet. Instead, I was made to feel like I was inconveniencing everyone just by trying to walk in the door.
My husband and I left. It was very clear they didn’t want our business.
This type of behavior is completely unacceptable in any establishment that claims to offer hospitality. A hostess is the first impression of a restaurant. When someone greets guests with attitude instead of courtesy, it sets the tone for the entire experience. We weren’t being rude, we weren’t rushing anyone, and yet we were treated like a burden.
I’m appalled that this was our first impression of Meehan’s. If that’s how guests are treated for simply trying to walk in, I wouldn’t recommend this place to anyone. A true Irish pub should feel warm, inviting, and friendly. This felt cold, dismissive, and downright...
Read moreI really hate writing negative reviews and I don't make a habit of it. We were there this past Tuesday mid/late afternoon. It was a bit busy and we followed some people into the bar area. They grabbed a table, we grabbed one near them. They shifted to the bar once they saw seats open up. They were served almost immediately. We waited. People came in and sat after us. They were served. We still waited. We alerted the hostess that we had not been served and she said she would have someone come to us soon and even brought us silverware. People came in well after us to a table next to us. The bartender apparently knew them personally and took all their drink orders after chatting with them. We still sat there. After being there way too long and ignored we decided to leave and go elsewhere (thank you Ann O'Malley's for serving us!). I will say this...when we first arrived there were no "See hostess for seating" signs on the bar tables. Well after we got there and sat in the bar area staff started cleaning the tables and then set signs on them to see Hostess. Guessing to prep for dinner time but we had been there long enough beforehand and we had already gotten with the hostess. So we're not sure why we continued to be skipped over. I swear my husband and I took a shower that day and didn't stink! Lol! We're huge Irish Pub goers so we'll give Meehan's one more try in case this one day was just bad...
