Had a great experience. Came in to eat at 11:30am on a Friday. Was seated in a separate section of the restaurant which had limited AC. Customer service was good. Waitress continued to check in at appropriate time to see that me and my party was doing okay. Liked that my iced mango coloda tea was filled to the top of the cup, did think it was going to be sweet but not sweet at all and could used more ice; regardless, still good iced tea. Portion size are great for price. Kimchee fries were hot and crispy even with sauce on top. Was really impressed with the Korean fried chicken in appetizer section. It's white meat chicken breast and very juicy as shown in picture. There's was carrots and celery sticks on the side and a flavorful sweet and sour sauce and ranch that comes with it. The sauce is the perfect texture, not too thick or sticky. I would say the appetizers were sharable sizes for a group of 3-4. For actual lunch, I had the bento box combo with terriyaki eel, which isn't really Korean food but they were able to make it work. The eel melts in your mouth and is very tasty. My bf had the korean BBQ short ribs and they were also good. It had the right amount of Korean BBQ marinade and was juicy not dry. The shrimp tempora and pot stickers were delicious with the sauce in the center. Everyone got their own sides which included 1 sliced pickled cucumber, 1 tbsp of kimchee and pickled radish, side portions were too small. The salad and japchae was a little bland and they have the wrong rice! The rice is like the cheap "instant rice" in a box. Everyone knows Koreans eat the fatter sticky rice which is a signature to their dishes. Hence, 4 stars and not 5. Overall, still a great place to eat downtown and will...

Came in for a work lunch date. Got sat immediately which was nice, but the seats were ripped and duct taped back together. Immediately assaulted by mosquitoes, am covered in bug bites now. The waitress said sorry about 15 times because we kept swatting them off of us to no avail, and explained their a/c went out and they were still dealing with the issue. Eventually asked if wanted a bat to swing at them??? Which was a very weird offer. Ordered Japchae, short rib gui, and eel bibimbap. The japchae hit the craving I had for it, but was too sweet and too oily. The ribs were alright, the eel was okay (tasted like the store bought premarinated kind for both though) and the very small Banchan sides we received were bland and lacking spice/flavor. The dishes overall were not worth the price, and when the waitress asked if I liked the dish, I told her it was bland. She didnt say or offer anything in response. My bf and I were hungry though and in a rush so at least he finished eating everything. When the bill came and we paid, the waitress laughed at me and said "wowwww your face is so red! 😄 from the mosquitos stinging your face, right??" And explained i had a skin condition that causes it to flush red. Loudly laughing at your customers looks, especially when its in regards to a medical condition, is in extremely poor choice. In the end we were charged full price for an overall unpleasant experience and given a quick and awkward "sorry.". We won't be back, and if youre looking for authentic Korean food, I implore you to look elsewhere. This place isn't worth the bug bites, insults, price, and...

We were in town for my birthday weekend and came across Hoya in a Google search. Of the many restaurants in the area, I'm so glad we picked this one. The staff(owner) was super nice and made sure every part of our meal was great. We ordered bulgogi bimimbop, short ribs, seafood pancake, a Korean peach flavored alcohol, eggrolls and a mango ice dessert (sorry I don'trememberall of the names). I love Korean food and I'm an adventurous eater. My husband, on the other hand, is new to food exploration and is a picky eater with a ton of food aversions. He tried every item, including the 3 banchan served, and liked every single item! I also loved everything, but for him, that's saying something. For me, the top item was the short ribs, sweet, sticky and I would have eaten the bone if I could have. The ribs were served on a bed of cabbage. The heat from the plate and the drippings of the sauce from the ribs made the cabbage so flavorful, and strangely, one of my favorite parts of the meal. For him, it was the mango ice dessert. He woke up the next morning wanting to go back just for another one of those to go! The bulgogi bimimbop was so good! I love how the hot bowl makes the rice get a little bit crispy. All the ingredients were fresh and beautifully prepared. This was a great experience and a wonderful meal. We wish we lived close some could come back again, but next time we visit Ft...
