My wife and I decided to take a trip to Fredericksburg, TX for the wine. And yes, we did plenty of vineyard hopping while there. But this restaurant was completely unexpected.
After having dinner and cocktails at their sister bar, The Stable, we were encouraged to try out Martini's for dinner. We ended up going the next night and were greeted with the warmest smile from Hector! He's the man! He helped us get a few seats at the bar, seeing that the place was packed! That night, they had live music (female singer, guitarist), playing some of the most well-known jazz classics.
Their cocktails were delicate and made with the utmost care. Pictured below was their Mojito and Lemon Drop Martini. We also started with their Shrimp Cocktail, which I was pleased to see had fresh shrimp (pictured below). That night's fish special melted in your mouth (pictured below).
In fact, the dinner was so incredible, we came back immediately the next morning for brunch, which far exceeded our expectations. Pictured below is their brunch menu, as well as a few drinks and entree's we ended up devouring! Might I add, the "Sterling" Bloody Mary includes fresh shrimp, crab leg, lobster tail, beef jerkey, and celery!! Named after the man himself, Sterling served it up with a smile.
I could go on and on about this place. HUGE shoutout to Hector, Sterling, and Liz, as they were incredible at making us feel at home throughout our multiple meals here. In fact, Liz was our waitress at both Martini's and The Stable, their sister restaurant! She greeted us with the best smile and made us feel like regular's from the very beginning.
Owners of Martini's and The Stable: If you want to be extremely successful in the future and make these two restaurant's into something great, DON'T CHANGE A THING!! SERIOUSLY!! I will be talking about these places for years to come. And you better believe they will be our first stop when arriving in Fredericksburg...
Read moreFirst things first - they don’t take reservations and they get busy in the evenings. So, the best time to go - start of happy hour or early evening/late afternoon. Our recent trip to Fredericksburg had us get there Friday for happy hour and then Sunday evening around 7p for dinner. We walked in, sat at the bar on Friday for happy hour and had a blast. Went back Sunday evening, waited an hour and 15 min for a table for 4 and had an amazing time. Well worth the wait!
We had a few things on the menu during the weekend trip. For starters: Shrimp Scampi, lobster mac, calamari and artichoke dip were phenomenal. Crap cakes were ok for us. We typically prefer a more crunchy coating and thicker chucks of crab, but these here were flavorful but not crunchy and more of a smoother crisp mixture. Still good. Scallops were cooked very well but lacked flavor. My wife’s fav was the shrimp scampi and mine was the calamari. Toasted honey topping might scare some off thinking it’s sweet, but it’s not.
For entrees: the Ahi Tuna Burger was by far one of the best things I have eaten. My wife’s surf and turf was out of this world. If you choose the asparagus as your side, the stalks are thick, tender and seasoned well. Our friends had the shrimp and crab boil with Old Bay seasoning and it was delightful. They got the Cajun seasoning on the side to try, and it does pack a punch. Waitstaff is amazing, decor is great, bathrooms are spacious and clean. Make sure to stop at Martinis when you visit Fredericksburg because you won’t be disappointed. I’m not a fan of waiting long for restaurants, but this place I will. 5 stars all the way - our visit Friday for happy hour was 5 stars and even after we waited about 30 min longer for our table on Sunday evening, 5 stars still was there....
