This quaint little Pie Shoppe was offering at least 20 different kinds of pie today. I've been to places where they claim the pie is home made (and certainly some are!) But some I've experienced use equipment and lots of automation--which is ok but my preference is the old fashioned way -making the pie dough, crimping it, blind baking it depending on what flavor or prepping lots of fresh fruit, scratch puddings, mile high meringue....I'm sure you get the picture. Fredericksburg Pie Company makes pie the old fashioned way-so how they had such a variety is beyond me! It likely involves some ultra early hours since a cooling period is required for the filling to set. They offer beverages including Fredericksburg Coffee which they also sell. The customer service is Exceptional. Helpful and efficient and Experts at packaging your pie so it will make it home or wherever-unless you eat it all during your drive....(it could happen!) You can order a slice to eat right now or buy a whole pie. What I found amazing is they will allow you to choose two (2)flavors-1/2 and 1/2 so to speak and they cut those halves to perfection...I bet if you weighed them they would be the exact same!! Boy...if you didn't come in with your mind set on your absolute favorite flavor, all of them look so good it would be easy to take a comfortable seat indoors or out and just get slice after slice trying as many as possible until you slipped into a "Pie Coma". I can't tell you how hard it was to leave that shop with the half-and-half pie we purchased completely boxed up, and placed in a cooling bag for safe travel. Not so much as a crumb passed my lips until we arrived back at the camper. My husband said it was one of the best lemon meringue pie's he's ever tasted-that was the half he requested. My coconut meringue pie (the other half) was literally an experience. I tried to find it wherever we visited after my mom died because she was the only one bed I get there see you make it Going to have to get the family together so it's devoured in one fell swoop because otherwise I know what would happen to the leftovers! We arrived about 45 minutes after they opened and they had already sold several pies but some of the ones I saw that remained included Coconut Cream, Coconut Meringue, Chocolate Cream,Peanut Butter Cup, Lemon Meringue, Pecan, Chocolate Pecan, Apple, Blueberry Cherry. And they had all the cream and meringue pie's in one of those old-fashioned glass pie safes where bakeries or restaurants could display the available pies on the shelves and you could see through the glass at the beautiful display. Quite the incentive to order dessert! I'll edit this review once I try some of the Fredericksburg coffees that I purchased. I enjoy flavored coffee and I'm looking forward to tasting the Fredericksburg Mexican Vanilla flavored coffee which is one of the flavors I purchased. Don't miss this little pie shop which sits off the main drag. Angle...
Read moreExcellent pies! Probably some of the best I've ever had!!! The only downside is that they're only open Thursday-Saturday. We tried to go on Wednesday (from out of town) and they were closed. Boyfriend was really upset because he wanted pie. We went back Thursday morning (when they were open) and got pie! It's sooooo good! It's no wonder they're only open 3 days a week! I kid you not, these pies are the best in the area. They sell out by 10-10:30 am!! We got there at about 10 and were not able to snag a whole half cherry pie, but they did have a few slices left so we got a couple. We also got half a peach, apple, peach blueberry, and bourbon orange pecan. SO AMAZING. They're all so good. This might just be the best pie shop in Texas!! 10/10 would recommend, but make sure you go early so you don't miss out on your...
Read moreDELICIOUS! Ordered a peach pie ala mode and lemon meringue. Drool.
The peach pie crust was flaky, just the right thickness and chew. Not overly sweet; slight tang/tartness to it balance out.
The lemon meringue was a perfect balance of tartness and sweetness. The meringue melted in your mouth and offset the fullness of flavor of the lemon. Light, thin crust. Perfection.
Lovely folks work here. The ambiance is like you're going to Grandma's house for tea and pie.. Cute little tables inside and out.
Drip coffee and decaf served. Cold bottles of water. Some merch and preserves, etc. Definitely worth checking out even if you're on a diet!
A variety of pecan pies. Fruit pies. Cream pies....
