Fredericksburg General Store — Local services in Fredericksburg

Absolutely blown away with the terrible and RUDE service today. I visited the store today as I have for years and years while visiting Fredericksburg, this used to be one of my favorite stores to visit and was excited to take my child as they have a section that sells children's toys. I saw that the woman in charge of the store was a mother and she had two young children manning the counter, which made me feel that this was a family friendly and mom-friendly store. As I was walking with my toddler and looking at the children's toys I could already feel eyes of the woman in charge of the store watching us. Every move we made, she's follow us. We walked to the opposite side of the store where the ornaments were and my toddler grabbed a plastic ornament quickly and accidentally dropped it. I picked it up and put it back, he grabbed another ornament quickly(toddlers are so so fast) and I grabbed it out of his hand and as I was putting it back I could feel the woman manning the store's eyes glaring at me. She quickly walked where we were, hovering on top of us, and as i was putting the ornament away she continued to glare at me, absolutely demeaning, I couldn't believe my eyes. I was with my 3 year old. This is in front of my baby, customers, her children. I'm blown away. I told her she was so rude and she asked "WHY?!" I couldn't believe she would act like this in front of children? How absolutely shameful. I got my child out of that store as soon as possible as she was screaming at us at the top of her lungs to "get out of her store". DISGUSTING. So very shameful and I hope her children don't ever have to witness such a terrible example again. I will never ever support this business. DO NOT SELL CHILDREN ITEMS IF YOU DO NOT SUPPORT CHILDREN SHOPPING AT YOUR STORE.

Rude service not welcoming. Cashier and lady at the back acting like I was trying to steal something. Please!!!! They were calling each other. Lady that came out from the back gave me a dirty look. I’m a mother of a 4 year old I stand and look around to wait what will decide to buy. We have absolutely no need to steal! Ladies, place cameras everywhere and have someone look at them on the back. No need to come out and look at us in a suspicious way. I will never return and things are ridiculously expensive and cheap. There’s other reviews below that have felt the same way. Old lady was very rude. From the moment we walked in she kept following us around making the entire experience uncomfortable. It accused my friend of stealing a keychain and when she was showing her pockets, it would just keep staring at her as if she had anywhere else to hide it. It threatened to call the cops on a 15 year old girl of stealing a small overpriced keychain when she clearly did not have it.
