Denny's — Restaurant in Fresno

We had a great server Angelina I believe was her name my wife Mary and I are from Duncan Oklahoma very friendly and helpful her people skills were impeccable and went up in about in her duties and made us comfortable if I owned a restaurant I would hire her without hesitation if I was the manager or owner of the Denny's I would give her a raise I wish alot of people in restaurant places had her attitude positive up beat and very courteous!!!!! My wife Mary and I will be here in Fresno California for about a week and will go back to that Denny's restaurant again it was very clean and the other staff were friendly we don't have a Denny's restaurant in Duncan Oklahoma where we are from and we have to drive a long drive to oaklahoma city just to get to eat at one so when my wife Mary and I are traveling and we see a Denny's restaurant where ever we are we make it a point to stop by it because Denny's restaurant is our favorite restaurant to eat at!!!!!! But again the Denny's restaurant I am talking about is on the parkway in Fresno California and the server Angelina is the server I want to serve my wife Mary and I when we go back before leaving Fresno California to return back to our house in Duncan Oklahoma we visited the Denny's restaurant on the parkway on May 6,2023 in the evening around 6 00 or 7 and ate dinner my wife Mary had a chicken fried steak dinner and I had a breakfast dich with hash browns and a Thomas English muffin with Ham egg and cheese and a glass of milk and my wife Mary had a ice tea the only complaint my wife Mary had was that her tea was not sweet tea and she had to add her own sugar to it but overall it was a very pleasant experience!!!!! I gave this place a chance even though the yelp reviews were scarier than what I saw on Google for this place. I tried to give it a fair chance cause it was very close to where we stayed. But the service here was horrible. We got here on a Saturday afternoon, not very busy, they took down our name and how many people and then proceeded to sit two two other families that are the same size as they walked in and we sat for about 20 minutes. They sat us at a table near the bar, not clean, and she took our drinks. My 3 kids obviously had kids menus that they we're ordering from and they ordered hot chocolate (which it says 99 cents for all drinks on the kids menu by the way). My oldest son who is 12 almost 13 ordered an adult sizes sofa (the waitress made sure and asked that is what he wanted) and a sirloin steak dinner, my wife and I shared a quesidilla and their cinnamon roll pancakes with sausage and bacon. Sounds great right? Well, the food came out almost 30 minutes later, my sons hot cocoa was cold, so I asked if it comes with a refill and we asked for more coffee. She poured a bit more coffee in our cups, not leaving the carafe for my wife and I and then proceeded to come back with the hot cocoa. When our food arrived my son got what he did not order, they gave him a country fried steak. So we called her over and explained that he ordered a sirloin and not a country fried, they also gave him the wrong veggies so it seems it wasn't even his plate. she argued a bit and I said, no he ordered the sirloin and she said, okay my mistake, well get it fixed. My son had to wait another 10 minutes or so to get his food out. My bacon was super dried out and burned looking and my sausage looked not fresh and was hardly Luke warm at all. We ran out of coffee (again) but waitress was nowhere in site to refill it. She finally brought us our waters that we asked for and left. This time I noticed I had no maple syrup for my pancakes, does the cinnamon roll pancakes not come with a syrup? Anyway, the worst part was when they gave me our ticket and they charged us $3 a hot cocoa, when the kids menu clearly said $0.99. I had to explain to three people, finally the manager, why we shouldn't have been charged that much. She looks at me, changes the item, and asks for the payment, then walks away. No apology, no thank you for your business or anything. Very rude. I will likely never go back to...

I am a regular customer and almost always have stellar service and good food here. Staff is very kind and knowledgeable about the menu.

However, that is not the experience that I had today. I am actually sitting at a table inside the restaurant as I write this. I've been here for roughly an hour and the server has been over to help me once. Took almost 20 minutes for him to come over and ask what I wanted to drink, and it has been an additional 40 minutes that I've been waiting for him to come back. In that time, I've seen a family of 7, along with two other single customers have their orders taken, get their drinks, food, checks, and leave.

As I'm writing this, there is only me and one other person in this portion of the restaurant. He checked on the other guy again and made sure everything was good for him, got him a drink refill, and did not come over to take my order. He's taken the time to clean all of the tables and get all of the dirty dishes, but has not so much as walked within 10 feet of my table.

Very disappointed by this, but this is my only bad experience to date, and I hope that it stays that way.
