I recently visited Butterhorn Bakery Cafe and had a very disappointing experience. Unfortunately, the service I received from our waitress, Lauren, was extremely distressing and unprofessional.
Service: Our waitress, Lauren, was initially polite but quickly became rude and dismissive when I inquired about an unexpected $5 charge for a side of sauce. Her response was loud and demeaning, making the situation very embarrassing, especially in a crowded setting. Despite my polite approach, she refused to take any accountability or offer an apology, instead repeatedly suggesting I speak to a manager. This lack of basic customer service and empathy was very upsetting. Lauren repeatedly said, "Well, if you go somewhere, there will always be an extra charge," in a condescending tone, making me feel belittled and disrespected. When I mentioned that it was her job to inform customers about additional charges, she continued to talk down to me, saying, "I don't make the prices," without any attempt to empathize or apologize. Waitstaff should inform customers if there will be any extra charges, especially for something as significant as $5. It's not just about the amount, but the principle of transparency and respect for the customer. I did not speak to a manager because I did not have the mental or emotional capacity to do so after such a rude interaction. At the end, Lauren forcibly placed the payment device on the table and sarcastically said, "Hope you have a better day," which was incredibly rude considering she was the one who ruined my day.
Food: The multigrain French toast was okay, but the additional $6 for fruit on top seemed overpriced. My husband enjoyed his bacon egg sandwich, but the potatoes were hard and stale. We were also surprised by the additional $5 charge for a small side of sauce, which we were not informed about beforehand. I no longer had the menu when we requested the sauce.
Drinks: I really liked my caramel latte, and my husband loved his steamed milk with espresso.
Overall Experience: This was my second visit to Butterhorn Bakery Cafe. While my first visit was pleasant, this experience was quite the opposite. As a woman of color, I felt particularly disrespected and talked down to, which added to the distress of the situation. There were barely any people of color in the seating area, which made me feel even more out of place in this predominantly white area. The lack of understanding and accommodation for customers' needs was very disappointing.
I hope the management takes this feedback seriously and works on improving their customer service. A simple apology and acknowledgment of the issue could have made a...

During my recent trip to the charming town of Frisco, I had the pleasure of dining at The Butterhorn Bakery & Cafe and I must say, it was an unforgettable positive experience from start to finish. If you are looking for a place that delivers not only mouthwatering breakfast dishes but also outstanding customer service and a warm, inviting atmosphere, look no further!
From the moment I walked in, I was greeted with a genuine smile and a sense of hospitality that made me feel right at home. The staff went above and beyond to ensure my experience was perfect, attentively checking in without ever being intrusive. It’s rare to find a team that balances professionalism with warmth so seamlessly.
Now, let’s talk about the food—absolute perfection! Their menu offers a diverse range of breakfast classics and creative specialties, making it nearly impossible to choose just one dish. I settled on their signature “Cinnamon Fruit French Toast “, which was grilled to perfection. Scrambled eggs and Sausage patties, of course with a side of fresh strawberries and a perfect cappuccino. Everything was prepared with fresh, high-quality ingredients that you could taste in every bite. The balance of flavors was spot on, and the generous portions left me feeling completely satisfied and ready to pound the ski slopes this morning.
The ambiance was equally impressive. Rustic mountain charm meets cozy comfort with large windows that fill the space with natural light. The creative fun art work and designs fills the restaurant with happiness. It’s the kind of café you want to linger over your coffee and soak in the serene vibe with friends and family.
In a town filled with great dining options, “The Butterhorn” stands out as a true gem. Do yourself a favor and stop in for a memorable experience that will leave you smiling long after the last bite. This is one place I’ll be returning to again and again! I also bought a cool looking sweatshirt for my daughter. Great swag collection 🤙

Read moreButterhorn Bakery & Cafe has all the potential, but didn’t live up to the hype when my wife and I dined there for lunch on an October Saturday around 12:30 p.m. Here’s our experience starting with the positives.
Paying your bill was also fast and efficient.
Service: Everyone was efficient without making you feel rushed. They were kind and warm.
Space: It’s a cozy one-room restaurant with lots of wooden tables crammed in and lots of warmth. It’s what you’d want in a diner in Colorado.
Drinks: My mimosa was good and fun! It comes with a little bottle of cold Prosecco and a flask of orange juice for you to mix yourself.
What we didn’t love.
My French toast with walnuts was disappointing. It comes out in four huge slices but it was too dry and not flavorful. The walnuts on top were too many.
