Carmella's Cafe and Dessert Bar — Restaurant in Greenville

We had the pleasure of visiting Carmella cafe and dessert Bar twice OMG the cafe Aesthetics is out of this world the location is perfect right in heart of the city by downtown Greenville waterfalls the first time we visited we had the pleasure of ordering the famous peanut butter Reese‘s cake it was out of this world price was just $12 but it was just enough for more than two people to share and pair perfectly with a ice latte coffee the cake was so moist. we had chance to sit outside there was descent amount of seating outside the customer services was excellent the second time we visit we had the honor of sitting at the bar they starting serving alcohol at 12pm it was my husband Birthday and one of the employee name Molly made his famous old fashion cocktail with makers mark my husband usually don’t smile much but his drink was perfect 10|10 I decided to try a drunken shake for the first time it was a manhattan version with bourbon this cocktail it was out of this world the flavors was perfect of course they had cocktails options that had coffee in it the drinks were affordable and the sandwich’s was perfect size bite it’s more than enough to share among 2 people Molly kept us entertain and made sure my husband didn’t leave without ordering his carrot cake to go for his birthday she even provided the candle and a lighter there also parking near by right down the street for $5.00 all day parking not garage open lot several payment method for the parking which I love for those who is...

TLDR: Could be better.

Overall, an awesome idea and beautiful location and setting. We came on a Sunday night and the line was about 10 people long. However, it did go fairly quick. Plenty of desserts to choose from, even in the evening time.

We got the Cannoli Cake to share and it was delicious, albeit could use just a little more filling to prevent the bottom thicker cake layer from being dry. Lattes were pretty okay. Nothing extravagant for $5 for a small.

That being said, some areas of improvement: For a $15 cake, I wish it came with silverware and an actual plate… for a dine in order we were given the cake in a cardboard box with plastic utensils, which seems wasteful. If I’m spending $30 on a dessert with a coffee, I think it should come on a plate.

Also, to second what another review said, I wish there were more desserts between the $15 and $6 that we saw. There seemed like there could be some for $10 or so, or just make smaller portions for one.

Additionally, the tables are so close to each other, that you’re actually stuck if someone sits on both sides of you. However, I do appreciate the idea of lots of seating.

Lastly, another idea would be to have servers like at a restaurant. They want you to tip at the counter, but I really am not receiving anything worth tipping if the employee is boxing up a cake in a cardboard box for me. (No hate to them, they...

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ I’ve passed by Carmella’s a few times and always noticed how busy it gets, especially at night. Last night I stopped in kind of last-minute — I wasn’t expecting much, just wanted to grab something sweet since a lot of other places were already closed. Carmella’s being open till midnight is such a nice surprise, especially when you’re craving something late!

I ended up eyeing their matcha latte but hesitated because there weren’t any reviews on it, and I’m picky with my matcha. I’ve tried matcha lattes from pretty much every café I visit, always searching for ones that aren’t watered down or overly milky. After talking to the nice girl at the register (who vouched that it was good) I decided to give it a shot — both hot and iced with oat milk and vanilla — and WOW. The hot matcha latte was honestly the best I’ve had in the Greenville area (and I drove over 30 minutes to get here!). Earthy, smooth, not too sweet — just the right balance. The iced one was refreshing and perfect for a warm day.

I also picked up the tiramisu and their chocolate hazelnut cookie — the cookie literally tastes like a chocolate bar, rich and satisfying if you’re looking for that crunch. The tiramisu was creamy and classic.
