I went tonight for a Valentine’s dinner. They advertised a steak and lobster special for Friday nights. When we arrived, they did not have our reservation, claiming that it was in Atlanta instead. They seated us. We waited 45 minutes for someone to come around for a bar order. When asked if they had a bar menu, they said no. We had been told they had an awesome bar menu. Not true on this occasion. We had to ask for bread, after an hour, and were informed that that would only come after we ordered.
We asked about the advertised steak and lobster menu. That was the reason we chose to go there for Valentine’s Day and it was advertised on a video in the lobby while we waited to be seated. We were informed that that was not available. Only the 3 items on the menu were available.
The menu had 3 appetizers and 3 entrees listed. Appetizers were pasta, swordfish, or a beet salad. These are not appetizers. I chose the pasta because I hate fish and beets. I was served a scoop of angel hair pasta with one anchovie on top of it. Appetizers=Totally lacking.
The 3 entrees were Filet, duck confit, and halibut. 1 of our party got the duck. 2 of our party had the filet. The filet was under cooked for 1 person and half of it was inedible for the 2nd person. The quality of the cut of meat was an absolute embarrassment.
The dessert plate was not a choice. They brought 2 dessert plates for the 3 people at our table.
The ambience began well, but in the end, it was incredibly noisy and we could not even hear the people at our own table. The service was beyond slow and neglectful.
Overall, we were very excited about going out for a special Valentine’s meal. This was a huge disappointment. On top of everything else, they racked a $55 gratuity charge into a bill for 3 people.
I have visited these clubs from San Francisco and Los Angeles to Washington, DC. I have NEVER been disappointed before tonight.
Can’t begin to express my disappointment in both the food and...
Read moreThe Commerce Club was wonderful to work with as our reception venue. Being from out of state originally, I knew I did not want an empty venue to have to rent tables, chairs, etc. We could not have asked for an easier, more beautiful venue! They were always professional, quick to respond to all my questions and concerns, and made planning an absolutely gorgeous reception so easy! All of our guests commented on our beautiful it all was set up, how kind and helpful the staff was, and how great the food was. I dropped off several decorations the day before and never had to think twice on the wedding day about anything that was going on prior to us walking in for the reception. They handled all the vendors coming to set up as well as set out all the decorations exactly as we wanted. We had an afternoon reception and the view of the mountains and downtown was breathtaking. I would not have changed a thing about our perfect day! Thank you, Commerce Club for our...
Read moreI brought my daughter to a tea party birthday last month at the Commerce Club in beautiful downtown Greenville. From the moment we stepped in to the building, we were treated like royalty. The security/information clerk asked if she could assist us and we asked where the birthday tea was begging held. She welcomed us, called the elevator for us, and gave us the instructions exactly how to get to the party. The halls, restrooms, and party room were very clean and well maintained, and the service was impeccable, The food that was served was absolutely AMAZING. And the view was breathtaking from the room. If you are looking to have a function that will not just provide an adequate space, but you'd like to share the views of the beauty of our growing downtown with mountains in the distance, this location is perfect and will go over and beyond your...
