Thursday date night with the hubby. This has been on the list for at least 6 months. So glad we came tonight. They had live music, which was acoustic and well done. It was a little loud by the bar (hubby is hard of hearing), so we asked for a table. The host found us the perfect spot that was quiet enough for us to chat and enjoy our time together, but still hear the music. Service is awesome! Quick and attentive without being obtrusive. Originally we had planned on stopping in for one cocktail and then hopping to some other spots downtown, but with the ambiance and service...we decided to stay put. We ordered beverages first. Old fashioned for the hubby and a I'll Bee at the Pool for me. This drink was perfectly balanced and had a little coconut cream for extra smoothness. Soooo yummy! For food we had the crispy brussel sprouts, slider Cubano, and then truffle fries. The brussel sprouts were a dream...crispy outside with perfect honey chili glaze. The Cubano sliders were really tasty with stone ground mustard and perfect crisp, yet soft bread. Would have loved some pickled red onion on them also, but that would be to my taste. The truffle fries were a perfect ending for us after a few cocktails! The manager stopped by and told us about some up and coming things on the new menu and to give us a taste of a new cocktail. Excellent!! We look forward to returning soon for another great date night evening! Thank you for a...
Read moreI’ve found myself preferring the hotel restaurant scene lately. This place was no exception! The seating was cozy and calm yet active and vibrant at the same time. It was cold out so I’m assuming that’s why it wasn’t very busy for a Friday night but, besides the bar area, we were the only table. Our server was friendly and just attentive enough to not be overbearing. We started with the truffle fries. They were good but not outstanding. I prefer shoestring truffle fries and these were regular size fries. They also could have used a bit more cheese. To drink I had the Oak and Honey old fashioned. The cocktail menu was creative and typically priced. I ordered the fried chicken with Brussels sprouts and beans. I didn’t realize when I ordered that it was gluten free and was pleasantly surprised at the flavor. It’s incredibly hard to find gluten free fried chicken so I’m definitely highlighting this point! Our server said that the menu is rotating but they always have a fried chicken option and it’s always gluten free. Oh, and ingredients are sourced locally—another plus! My husband ordered the carbonara. He had a craving for that dish and it hit the spot. Here’s my only request (and I’m going to start adding it to every review): PLEASE add one vegan dish to every menu. A simple vegetable plate or a grain bowl. It doesn’t have to be fancy. This is needed especially in a hotel restaurant! I appreciate the cauliflower...
Read moreSo I really, really wanted to like this place. Love the idea of the cocktails and I absolutely love bees and honey. However, I went on a Saturday and it was a HUGE disappointment. I just want to leave an honest review because I had such high expectations from the other reviews. So here is why I cannot give it over 2 stars: -asked for another menu so our group could look at multiple menus and we were told that was the only one -almost every drink I ordered could not be made or was not available. This included cocktails, beers and all meads -the food we ordered took well over an hour and a half, we ordered 3 appetizers, that was it, had to cash out before we could even eat so I can't rate them on food quality -we were told to sit anywhere and then waited 15 minutes before any server acknowledged us -our server only came over to us 3 times in our total hour and a half experience -the flavor of the cocktails were very absent and were either very sour or very bitter, besides that they lacked complex flavors
Overall, not good service, drinks were okay, and honestly a huge disappointment. Don't know if I could give this place another shot because there are just so many other great...
