My friend and I went last night to listen to the band, Infinite Vibezz. Saw many ads on Instagram about RnB bands playing some good music there, so me and my friend wanted to check out the place. As we arrived, we are greeted by the doorman. We tell him that we don't have reservations and he tells us that they will get a table ready for us in a few minutes. As we are waiting, another group that was ahead of us stated they were waiting for a while as well. My friend then stated "well instead of waiting near the door we can just walk to the bar and have a drink while they prepare the table". So we all walked in and was immediately approached by one waitress in hostile manner and was told in a RUDE tone, "I'm going to have to ask y'all to step back outside and wait in the waiting area...there are no standing areas near the bar" (which is stupid). It's not like we didn't know we couldn't stand by the bar which is commom at most establishments. So we walked back to the waiting area, by this time the band is playing and we are just waiting. The doorman also looked very confused. As we are waiting that rude waitress looks at a gentleman that appear to be waiting and states "Are these YOUR PEOPLE?" A statement that could be taken as offensive which at that point we were going to leave but we wanted to hear the band. Finally the group before us gets a table and are seated. While we are still waiting, it looks like a table is not becoming available. So another waitress comes to us and says would y'all like to sit with the group that were seated. When we told her that we were waiting for a table to be ready, she tells me that a group came in before us when they actually got there after us. It appeared we weren't going to get our own table so we sat with the group who were very nice to offer us to be seated with them. It is a 20% gratuity added to the bill per person with a one drink minimum which is fine. Paid $28 for one drink. A code is needed to use the bathroom which is weird and the decor around the place was kind of creepy. The set up could be a little better and the seating area needs more chairs. It's unfortunate that a place of of this caliber would provide service like this. Although, we enjoyed the band we will not be returning due to the poor customer service that...
Read moreDisappointing Experience Due to Discriminatory Behavior
My wife and I recently dined at Rainer’s Cafe hoping for a delightful lunch in Downtown Greenville. However, our experience was marred by unwarranted rudeness and discriminatory behavior from the manager, Candy.
The incident began when my wife took a bite of her pulled pork sandwich and noticed that it did not taste right. Instead of addressing the issue with empathy and professionalism, Candy immediately adopted a hostile attitude. She informed us that even if my wife chose not to eat the sandwich, we would still be charged for it. This response was not only rude and obnoxious but also reflected a complete lack of customer service skills.
What was particularly disappointing was the underlying tone of discrimination that seemed to permeate the interaction. As an interracial couple, we have unfortunately encountered such attitudes before. However, we never expected to face such blatant discrimination in a supposedly inclusive and welcoming establishment. Additionally, bit my wife and I are retired from the Army after serving 20+ years.
It is disheartening to see that in this day and age, there are still individuals like Candy who choose to treat customers based on their personal biases rather than providing the respectful and courteous service that every patron deserves.
Finally, our experience at Rainers Cafe was deeply disappointing, primarily due to the unprofessional behavior and discriminatory treatment from the manager, Candy. We hope that the owner. Bee takes this feedback seriously and works towards creating a more inclusive and respectful environment for all customers. This manager does not belong in the service industry and I sincerely hope that she is not a reflection...
Read moreThe band was amazing and the food was good. However, I would not recommend this location to friends, nor do I plan on returning. There were 8 of us celebrating a birthday, and we all felt nickled and dimed. There was a cover charge per person to make a reservation, which is absolutely fine. I would assume that was for the band ( but maybe not as there was a sign to tip the band). Each person was required to order a drink per band set. If you did not order an alcoholic beverage, you will still be charged $12 for tea or soda. If you are late for the sets, the drink minimum is still required. Then there's this tiny bowl of mixed nuts that has $5 refill charge. There is a gratuity of 20% added to the ticket as well as a non cash adjustment fee. The waitress did not deserve 20% (the table was left full of glasses and dishes, no water refills). I asked the bartender why the fee was there prior to determining how the customer is paying, she was condescending and told me I had to pay it then she would refund me since I was paying in cash. This made no sense, not to mention she did not give the correct amount back. This establishment needs to just charge $20 for a cover fee instead of $10 and kill...
