A small, quirky, bright place right on the Main street. Parking was a bit of a challenge but we didn't really have to walk too far. We were seated at a table for two. It was moderately busy at 10am on a Tuesday. Where we were seated was a very busy foot traffic area to and from kitchen/bathrooms. The floor was "bouncy" and every person that walked by our table, which was nearly constant, caused the floor (and thus our table and chairs) to bounce. It was super weird and became rather annoying. I would suggest asking for a table in the front section away from most of the foot traffic! It took 15-20 mins for our waitress to stop at our table and take our orders. I ordered Chicken and waffle and my hubs had eggs, French toast, bacon and grits with a biscuit. The food took a good bit and the service was not attentive at all. We got coffee while we waited and it was quite strong and a bit bitter. There was no sugar on our table, so we had to ask for that several times and finally got some. My hubs normally likes his coffee black but even he added sugar to make it more palatable. If you are a fan of "CHARbucks" coffee, you'd probably be okay with this rocket fuel. It DID wake me up though! He had to stop a waitress and ask for a refill....which also took a bit for him to actually get. We never got refills on our waters! It was not busy enough to warrant such poor service. The food was not hot when it came so that told me it was sitting back there, also waiting on our waitress. My Belgian waffle came topped with 3 chicken tenders. There was a small cup of syrup but no butter for the waffle. My hubs meal came and there was no French toast . It was supposed to be part of his combo meal. We asked for some butter and inquired of his French toast when we caught a random waitress walking by. It was REALLY frustrating bugging people for what we needed or for things left off our order over and over again. Each time, it was not quick....rather surprising as the kitchen was only about 10 bouncy steps from our table. The waitresses asked would just go on to bring other food out, etc .. and just when you were sure she'd forgotten....boom!...she'd finally bring what you asked for. Our actual waitress was pretty much MIA after taking our order ...until check time, of course. We thought she'd left, honestly! My hubs liked the eggs and especially the biscuits and fluffy grits. The French toast was made with a whole grain bread which he said added an "off" kind of flavor. It's admittedly an odd choice for French toast. My waffle had great flavor but its' being barely warm took some of the fresh baked bliss away. The syrup wasn't warm either so it was no help. The tenders had good seasoning to the breading but the chicken was tough and seemed a bit overcooked. It wasn't crunchy, more like "original KFC" texture. It was very disappointing. I probably should have sent it back but didn't want to have to flag someone down and wait forever for more chicken. We just wanted to leave at this point. We had wanted to try this place a long while as the reviews were so good. Maybe it was just an off day, but it was truly a poor meal/experience there for us and we would not go back for another try. Too many other great places around where we feel more welcomed and can get great tasting, hot food. Nevertheless, we tipped well and left well caffeinated, if nothing else.

I hate to say this but we have visited this Flying Biscuit location 20 times since November of 2024. Today was a horrible day. In the past I rated it 5 stars, but today caused us to lose trust in the way the kitchen prepares food. We ordered the Tofu Scramble that we have had 20 times in the last 8 months. I have a picture of the normal Tofu scramble shown with the fruit. This plate is consistent with the entre we have been served the last 20 times. Today we were served Tofu scramble plate with the side of collards. As you can see, it's not crumbly like the normal and appears to be the consistency of mashed potatoes with vegetables mixed in. It smelled like rotting garbage. My wife and I took one bite each and it was horrible. It left a horrible taste in our mouths that lasted even after traveling home and brushing our teeth. We told the server that we ordered this almost every week and there was something terribly wrong with it. We refused to order anything different because it was obvious the kitchen was not being operated properly. We requested to leave without paying for the entrees, but we were still charged $8.44 for 2 cups of coffee that we had only taken a couple of sips from. I hate to say that we will never go back to this place we once loved. See photos of my clip from Quicken showing our past visits, and the receipt as well as the good versus the bad Tofu scramble plates.

Food - Stopped in for brunch (11:00 AM-ish) and the place was absolutely packed. I had the Bacon Egg and Cheese Biscuit Sandwich and she had the One Fluffy Flying Biscuit and the award winning Grits. The sandwich was what you would expect for that kind of sandwich. My only turn off was the cheese, it was wrapper cheese instead of a nice cheddar or something similar. The biscuits were soft and crumbly. The cranberry apple butter that came with her biscuit had a nice sweetness for the biscuit. The grits were award winning as the menu stated. Service - The restaurant was unfortunately severely understaffed when we visited. Server was very kind, but took awhile for order to be placed, along with recieving our order. About an hour and a half. Servers were running their tails off so I don't want to hold that against them. Restaurant - Lots of really neat murals on the walls and ceiling. The floors were clean, tables were not sitting dirty and where we sat at the bar was not filthy or sticky. As mentioned there is a small bar area, no bartender, and some seating outdoors. Overall - Other than the understaffing and delay in getting food after the order was placed, the overall visit was fine. I would suggest a better quality cheese to be used, but that is my own personal opinion. Would probably visit again if others wanted to try it out with us.

I will definitely be back. The location, decor, and menus are all so beautiful and excellent. I LOVE the murals on the wall and they have a gorgeous bar. I'm really impressed by how many vegetarian and vegan options they have, it was actually an entire section of the menu. Certainly they have the most vegetarian and vegan options for any local restaurant serving brunch. I'll be back for that alone.

I will say, there were a few kinks in my experience, but I think much of that was just from coming in on a Saturday morning on a holiday weekend. There was a guy blowing up balloon animals for kids and that was a bit busy for me. He stood next to my table for 15 whole minutes blowing up balloons, which we all know is a very loud process. I didn't enjoy that, but hopefully that was just a holiday thing? Not sure. I will say I did not have a reservation but was sat within ten minutes, and they were busy, so clearly they have a good rotation going. I work in food service and I was impressed by how quickly we were sat, and how quickly the food came out. For a holiday weekend that was pleasantly surprising. My bloody mary was delicious. Everything was very fairly priced, I will say even underpriced for downtown Greenville, which will probably keep them busy.

I must admit, the service was absolutely terrible. As a server I was blown away by how absolutely rude our server was. She rushed us through ordering. She dropped off our check RIGHT after our second round of drinks, as if she couldn't wait for us to get up. She tried to pick up our check THREE different times, even after we put it behind some condiments on the table. I did not tip her and I don't think I've ever done that before. She was such a poor server we were actually a little confused about the food because she had no idea what she was talking about. I eventually asked to speak to the manager on duty who turned out to be the owner. I originally thought she was the bartender just because she was so hands on. She didn't seem entirely shocked by our complaints about the service and I don't feel this server at all represented the vision this lovely owner has for her establishment. Just my opinion. She was apologetic and invited us back. I hate I even had to bother her, but she was very kind and even talked us through our confusion about our order. Everything was delicious and as long as I don't have to deal with that server again, I will be back many times. I never got her name. I watched other servers working and they were all very kind and professional. Also the restaurant was very clean. Ten...

Visited while in town due to many good reviews. Maybe this was an off day, but we were both disappointed. The service was VERY slow, we were there for nearly two hours just for breakfast (only two of us, we ordered as soon as the server came to our table but by that point we had been waiting at least 15 minutes). We were seated fairly quickly, by a server pointing vaguely towards the back & saying there's a table back there (the sign said to wait to be seated). I ordered a latte & it was barely warm. I finished it long before our food arrived because it was getting so cold. The food was decent & from what we could see, there were only 2 people in the kitchen, which probably explained the long wait. I wanted to get bacon instead of potatoes (I was willing to pay an upcharge if possible) but when I asked the server snapped that "they won't let me switch those" and never offered an upcharge option (ordering the items as sides would be a 75c difference so I was prepared to pay up to a dollar for the swap). I ended up just getting the meal (stuffed French toast) & not adding a side of bacon because the server seemed annoyed we had questions & we had already waited so long for her to come back to take our order I didn't want to risk it. I had other questions because none of the meals had quite what I wanted (potatoes with French toast but not an option with eggs or a meat - with all the carbs of the French toast I would have liked a protein), but after the servers reaction I didn't feel comfortable asking if there were other options or a way I could build something that I actually wanted. My boyfriend's meal came with grits which he said were the worst he'd ever had. He's generally not a picky eater so I was very surprised by that reaction. He didn't eat any of it & since no one checked on us once we had our food we didn't have a chance to ask the server about it.

This was extra frustrating because the tables in the back are kinda close together & she had to pass our table to get to all of her other tables. She never asked how the food was & we sat with empty plates for at least 10 minutes before she brought the check. They seemed short staffed so I understand that it may take longer than usual but it felt as if we were being ignored. Several tables around us left & were resat while we were there & those tables had quick service & recieved their food in a timely manner. Two hours is an unreasonable amount of time for breakfast, even in a short...
