Just the facts. I called in and ordered a #4 combo, a steak fajita burrito, two smothered lettuce and cheese burritos, a chicken nuggets kids meal and two margaritas to go. The young lady who took my order asked if I wanted my smothered burritos packaged together or separately, but didn’t intimate that separately would increase the price $5, so I said yes. I was eventually charged for two separate burritos even though the menu priced the two as one price. When I asked about the discrepancy, I was told that the price in the online menu had increased, but the menu in the restaurant matched up with the online menu. After some discussion, she determined that I was charged for two separate burritos because I asked for them to be separate. I did not ask for them to be separate, I was given the option without knowing their business practices in that regard. I asked if they would mind lowering the price back to the menu price but I was told that that wouldn’t happen, so I had to remove them from my order. They did not entertain the idea of putting them in the same package, so that I could pay the lower fee. Before removing the burritos my bill was $92 and change. After the burritos came off my bill was $68 and change. Huge difference. The margaritas that I ordered to go came in partially full cups. When I asked about this, I was told that that was the size according to the alcohol content in each drink. Not withstanding the alcohol content, the drinks I received were not worth $10.95 a piece. I thought to cancel the order at this time, but I had two hungry children at home, so I paid inside my order. When I got home, I found that my #4 combo was not included in the package. I return to the restaurant with my cold food and drinks and promptly added that I would like a refund. I the girl who took my order said that she could make the number for combo pretty quickly, but would not remake the whole meal. When I asked for a refund, they seemed hesitant and another gentleman who worked in the restaurant came over and asked the two ladies who were looking hesitant if there was a problem. Totally a micro-aggression since I wasn’t upset or irate, I was matter-of-fact and somewhat apologetic, even though I was going to have to find a new restaurant before returning home. Based on my experience, I wouldn’t recommend this...
Read moreI have gone there several times and didn't realize this is the last location. I wondered why it was just down to one restaurant.
I always get chili rellanos, it's a crispy cheese filled pablano pepper wrapped in a tortilla and served with this slight tomato/brown chili sauce. It's so tasty! I usually get the lunch special with one Chile rellanos and a chicken taquito. Lunch doesn't come with rice and beans, but there is plenty for lunch on this plate.
What I don't understand is this, they serve salsa and chips as you get seated but if you want more of this they charge a dollar extra for chips and a dollar extra for extra salsa. Well I like to scoop up saucy sauce from my lunch plate with the chips and use the salsa in my taquito. So why are you over charging me? That's riidiculous. Let me enjoy my meal without added cost. I also asked for a strawberry lemonade and what I got was a half of a glass full of syrup and half of glass of lemonade, it was so terrible.
What I don't understand is when I asked for a different drink the purple headed waiter refused to take it off and also charged me for the ice tea. It should have one or the other.
I asked the manager like woman who seats people at the front to review my ticket and she stated they charge for the extra chips and salsa because people order more and waste them. Well this wasn't the case. I ate the salsa but want a little bit more for my meal. She did not want to fix my ticket.
Is this cheapness and frugalness causing them to lose business? It sure is with me....
Read moreI decided to bring my son here on a Saturday for lunch because in the 80's I used to go to the original location on Mineral & when he was little he loved going to the location on Broadway near Arapahoe Road. To my knowledge I believe this is the last location they have open.
It was prime lunch time & they weren't very busy, but I assumed it was because it was a Saturday. The restaurant looked very run down & you could tell the owners hadn't put much money into maintaining the property.
We both got the tacos de adobada with the beans & cheese appetizer & two non-alcoholic drinks. The cost was around $50. We both agreed that the best thing about the meal was the appetizer. The salsa was bland. The adobada meat wasn't very well seasoned. If there hadn't been a slight red tinge to the meat you wouldn't even know it was adobada. The guacamole that came with the dish was horrible. I don't know if they added corn starch, some kind of gum powder, or gelatin, but the guacamole had been thinned & jiggled on the plate. My son refused to eat it & I stopped adding it to my tacos after the first one.
Given the cost of the meal per person & how unremarkable the food was I would have given them 1 star, but the server was nice & the food came out quickly so I gave them 2 stars. I was really sad to see the drastic departure from the meals we used to get at El Parral & El Portal...
