Peggy Sue's Maui — Restaurant in Hawaii

My Tuesdays are usually reserved for shopping adventures & of course food. Except this was an unexpected treat getting to stumble across Peggy Sue’s Maui a restaurant I surprisingly haven’t tried yet. However the ladies in my Ross Tuesday crew mentioned they’ve dined here before & stuck to ordering their favorites. I on the other hand was intrigued at the opportunity to experience this classic 50’s style diner. From the moment I walked in I was practically drooling over all the ice cream flavors visible from the entrance. Plus once we found a booth to sit at I was still trying to check out all the art decor throughout the restaurant. It definitely has an old school cute vibe. I was definitely happy our server was super nice, accommodating & brought everything out in a timely manner. I did find a few items that I’d be interested in trying but ended up settling for one of my absolute favorite things to order, a Caesar salad with added avocado. Which was delicious, I enjoyed the even amount of ingredients so each bite had a little bit of everything. If I wasn’t so full I might have attempted to lick the bowl clean.

Overall I really enjoyed the atmosphere & I’ve already told my boyfriend we need to do a date lunch here. So I’ll definitely be back to try something new off the menu.

When we first arrived I couldn't help but notice how dirty it was. We ordered our food and 25 minutes our waitress came over and told us their cook had gotten behind because they had a party of six come in. She said they just left and it wouldn't be much longer. We told her we understood, and ordered a second round of cokes. 25 minutes later, she came back and said it would be just a little longer, like it was no big deal. We asked how much longer and she said 5 minutes. After another 15 minutes, I had enough. I went to the counter and to announce our dis pleasure, and the girl there said "it's not our fault", we are doing the best we can", again like it was no big deal. I was done at that point. She then said the food was ready. Two of the four from our group were already headed for the car, so she said we could take it to go. I reluctantly agreed and paid for the food. A few minutes later I had the food and headed for the car. I got to the car and opened the boxes and ALL OF THE FOOD WAS COLD...!!! It had been sitting! But, it wasn't their fault, because they were doing the best they could. We threw the food away. So, for $52.00 of my money, I PROMISE TO TELL THIS STORY TO EVERY...

Our experience here was interesting. Their shakes were REALLY good but their food was just okay. We had a group of 8 and there wasn't really any eating space so we got our food to go. We noticed several groups who ordered after us getting their food first. When we got home a dish was missing- no big deal, we'll just call and pick it up since we're 5-10 minutes away. They never gave us a receipt so we couldn't prove what was missing, and then the staff on the phone seemed unsure how to help us. When we asked if we could just come pick up the missing dish they said they might be able to give a refund instead. When we insisted that we would just come pick it up they said ok. Instead of starting the food then, they waited to make the dish until my brother arrived and waited in line again- then the cook seemed to be arguing with my brother that they didn't mess up our order. In the end the lady at the register found our ticket and confirmed it did get messed up and mentioned how it had been happening that day a lot. Overall there was just a lot of unorganization. I'm not trying to be rude, but a lot of us didn't feel like the food was...
