Came here on a Sunday evening 530 reservation. Place is at full capacity. Seated quickly after they setup and cleaned off the table. No water or tea served and noticed many servers running around but no person offering service to our table. Lucky my outspoken aunty was here to vocalize the lack of service. Waitin... waiting...uuuhhhh... Two pots of tea finally. Took our order and about 15 minutes later food came. Tip: be rude to servers, any server and demand to get your order taken or "you can eat wind for dinner". No joke, being civil or with aloha gets you zero respect here. Rough attitude tita action is a must.
Deep fried intestines w sweet sour sauce 4 stars but not my thang. Crispy pork chops 4.5 stars, tasty soft. Oysters in sauce 5 stars and best of the evening, huge, juicy fresh! Lobster done 2 ways, delish 4.5 stars Clams in white wine 5 stars, strong wine flavors covered in spring onion and cilantro so delightful. White fish w veggies and shroomers,5 stars. Noodles w beef,4 stars lots of flavor. Finished with piping hot red bean soup dessert. Meh Food here is great but service no good. Chefs here are great but management needs to fire all the wait help and start from scratch. They are fighting over how not to serve customers here. Pushing one another " no you go " " no I'm not going to serve that table , you go"!( I understand the servers speaking in Chinese) Real disrespectful attitude and they do not deserve any tip. 5 stars if you like to be treated this way. Life is too short to be aggravated over dinner. We agreed never to step foot here ever again. 4.5 star foods minus stars for service =2.5 stars. You have been warned.
Tip: if you are not vaccinated and do not have a card, no worries. Did not check ID or vaccination card here. Not 1 person was checked all evening as I was observing. Yikes!!! They do not care...
Read moreDon’t let the photos I took fool you. Right where does one begin. I saw the long lines and thought that this place would be amazing since people all wanted to go. Oh how wrong I was.
We get seated and place our order within 5 minutes. And then we wait. And wait. And wait. For a grand total of 1 hour before we get our first dish. This is how we realized the reason why there was a long line outside was NOT because they were yummy and delicious but rather because service was SO SLOW. I swear I saw servers just doing laps around the restaurant doing ABSOLUTELY NOTHING. So we ate the food, it was ok. Nothing splendid. For the amount of time we waited I could’ve spent half the money buying the raw materials and making the food better myself (I’m Chinese I know how to cook this shit). Yea that lobster might look nice but damn it was so mid. I can’t believe they made something so good so average.
Ok now onto the bill. We asked for it. But didn’t receive it for 20 minutes after talking to 3 servers. Once again we saw them walking laps DOING NOTHING. The bill comes and it’s just numbers. I ask what these numbers mean and for some reason AN 18% TIP WAS INCLUDED?? I asked if this was optional, because for the service they provided the max they were getting is 15%. Don’t worry I’m a good tipper I worked in restaurant service I know the difficulties. But if you don’t work hard and just walk laps don’t expect a good tip. Anyway I asked the server and they laughed and were like people give 20% or 25% and I laughed back 🤣. They also insisted I use card which was weird but other reviewers said they make you tip again.
Tldr; don’t let the long lines fool you, it’s lowk not worth and they try scamming you. If you’re in the area go to Chong Qing Cuisine instead— they...
Read moreWe were staying at the Hilton Hawaiian Village in Waikiki, Honolulu, Hawaii. As good as the resort is, it doesn't have too many eating options after say 9 in the night or so. We were a couple of families with 3 little kids and desperate and hungry enough to get out of Waikiki and find a place to eat. Luck may have it, a lady cab driver stopped in front of us next to Hilton and we hopped in. We didn't know what to tell her.. but I remember saying something like "Take us to a good place to eat". She drove us to Fook Yuen which is like a mile away. We were so skeptical when we saw the place from outside. It was fairly crowded and a bit noisy too. You will know what I mean if you have been to any of the "China Town" restaurants in New York City. The first time at Fook Yuen was a fun experience because the waiter didn't really seem to understand what we wanted and we couldn't figure out what he agreed upon. But, nevertheless he brought us some Chinese food which was some of the best I have ever tasted. Unbelievable quantity as well. I do think the waiter must have confused an order or two :) but what he got us was much better than probably what we ordered. We ate so much that, I have no idea how we got back to the hotel. I do remember asking the front desk at the restaurant to get us a cab. And Lobsters. You got eat them. Cost? Unbelievably low. Needless to say that we ended up going there 3 more nights. Highly recommended restaurant. The staff is extremely courteous and very generous. (I should mention the free desserts they gave us). They are open very very late...
