This is your typical Vietnamese Pho restaurant. They have all the usual popular dishes and an extensive menu that can satisfy just about any craving you might have for popular Vietnamese dishes.
The location can be a bit challenging with parking. I recommend instead of fighting for front street level parking in the strip mall's parking lot, I recommend using the mall's underground parking that is accessed from a side street. It is quick and easy to get in and out and you don't have to let you car bake in the sun.
The atmosphere is typical. The décor is your usual kitschy Vietnamese restaurant ambience, but it is clean and well maintained. The staff were nice and friendly with quick service.
I ordered the crabmeat soup and it was very good. Loaded with lots of yummy treats and they didn't skip on anything. Their green papaya salad was loaded as well, but I wasn't sure if I liked the dressing preparation or not. It was a little different then other Vietnamese places I have gone to. Just couldn't put my finger on it, but I am not going to say that it was bad.
The prices weren't as cheap as other places, but not that bad as well. They make up for it in the portion sizes and overall quality of the food. I will check them out again if in the area, but I don't think I will go out of my way...
Read moreWe ordered Bun rieu, grilled chicken vermicelli and Vietnamese ice coffee. Service really slow despite there was only 3 other occupied tables. Really we should have left and went somewhere else after feeling all the spoons and small dishes on table. It was dirty. We just use napkins, wet it with water to wipe our little dishes. Our food came. The bun rieu soup was so gross, with sour spoiled tasted. So we moved on to the grilled chicken. It was ok. Chicken was cold like it's been sitting for awhile. The vermicelli noodles was super cold. Like how you would refrigerate. Over all foods lack quality and freshness. Really poorly food handling. As in temperature and proper food handling. Ice coffee was from stale grounded coffee. We let the owner know about the spoiled soup. She blame on shrimp paste. I explained to her it's the soup. We both tasted the broth before eating any the meat or noodles. The soup didn't look right. Pictures below. They didn't offer to fix it or give us a new one. Pray we don't have food poison. Although I like to try to support small business. This one will not get my business again. I let my friends and family know. Please don't eat here. I paid my full bill and left them tips. No apologies or nothing. Really bad...
Read moreI called in a banh mi and coffee for pick up. I always make a point of asking Vietnamese restaurants, esp ones I haven't been to before, if they include pickled vegetables, and chili peppers in their banh mi. Believe it or not some Viet places don't automatically add veggies and chili peppers to their banh mi in Oahu. Often times Vietnamese food on Oahu is cooked to suit local taste buds, which may not always be my preference. I learned the hard way a several times at other places, that banh mi doesn't always come with veggies. I really regret ordering here, and I really regret asking the lady if they had pickle vegetables and chilies. I'm Vietnamese so I understood everything she said. Before I hung up I heard her complaining loudly to her co-worker that all I ordered was a sandwich but I had a so many dumb questions. She said this in Vietnamese, it was so rude and awkward. I even considered not going to pick up the food. I gave them 4 stars because I want to support local mom and pop places. Honestly, if they were that rude over a question that took 10-15 seconds of their time, I wonder what it would be like to dine in. I am never going back, it was awkward AF when I went to pick up my food. I will go somewhere else when I need a...
