We have been here previously. They make good tropical drinks and have a good military discount. The times we went this time, they were quite busy so the service was so-so, but the atmosphere is really nice and has a great beach view from the tables. If you have a military ID this is the best place to get yummy drinks for less than you can get them elsewhere! Let it be known there is no food served here and you must go around the corner to the Hale Koa’s quick service location. We stumbled upon this bar while in the area as we were looking for a place to get some work done with a beach view. We sat at the bar, as that is where the outlets are. The bartenders were very nice and knowledgeable. They were friendly, prompt, and attentive. They provided great service and directed us to the happy snack bar around the corner for food, as this bar only serves drinks. They have a variety on their menu, but they are happy to customize, as one of the lemonades had gin in it, but we were able to ask for it with vodka instead. They also have mango lava flows in addition to the strawberry. I even asked for a gummy bear shot and they were able to make it on the fly for me. They don’t have a huge wide variety of liquor, but they have enough to get the job done. They also have military pricing for drinks which makes the drinks some of the best deals you can get on the island. Due to the pricing of the drinks, variety on the menu, friendliness of the bartenders, and proximity to the beach, we will definitely be back whenever our next visit is.

It used to be great, now management has made it worse. In the past, the wait staff was there to serve until 11pm, now they have split the two bars into self serve and wait staff, and the self serve is open late, but the waited staff part closes at 8pm. I was there until 9pm the other day and at that late hour, there were many people still sitting there, obviously wanting to stay longer, the wait staff was all required to leave. How about keeping both side open the same hours so people can decide if they want to do self serve or have a server. Apparently the new management team is full of people with new, great ideas that make no sense and are harming the business at the bar. Here is a photo taken at 9pm after the wait staff was sent home at 8pm, with at least 20 people still sitting there hoping there were still some wait staff to serve them drinks.

Haven’t been here in years and was glad the Mai Tai’s haven’t changed. Still very tasty and not weak. I went to Duke’s yesterday and payed $16 for theirs. Hale Koa is $10 for military, $12.50 for civilians. Probably a couple of ounces less then Duke’s but a good deal none the less. I went on a Sunday afternoon, and it was very quiet and relaxing. Not a lot of people there, and away from the hustle and bustle of the rest of Waikiki. When I left, I walked into Hilton Hawaiian Village, and the sheer amount of people was a little overwhelming.

I miss the old Barefoot Bar location, before the remodeling. The Mai Tai still the best on Waikiki. The big negative are the YouTube filmers. This Friday was really several. Walk right through filming speaking their language. Yes foreigners. Hence, lack of privacy. Expect to be filmed. Two price menu on alcohol drinks. One price Military and just like $2.00 more any non-military can wander on property and get drinks. So, Military ID card gets you a couple dollars off. This place only draw is cheap but great alcohol for Military and the general public. In 3 weeks we only went twice. Great only if you need cheap priced good drinks. But after YouTube filmers Friday night, we...
