Walking into Pint and Jigger, you can immediately sense that this is no ordinary bar—it's an establishment that prides itself on going the extra mile to deliver a truly exceptional experience for every patron. The world food travelers stopped off at Pint & Jigger in the Ala Moana Hotel. It took a while to find the place … the male half of the duo doesn’t ask for directions and the better half was given erroneous information. It’s in the Kona Tower of the hotel on the ground floor.

We were seated at the left end of the main room, just before an area that can be curtained off for private parties, on a bar seating. The drink menu (the larger of the two) is in various fonts and it took us a while to find suitable cocktails. We prefer a bottle of red but there weren’t any on the menu and I didn’t ask. So, a Moscow Mule for the lady and a Hendricks gin & tonic for me.

We ordered the Brandy and Bacon Strawberries, Pan Roasted Brussel Sprouts and the Marrow of Bone (2 bones) to start. The strawberry dish arrived first … It looked like dessert. Pieces of strawberries and bacon in a brandy sauce with a dollop of strawberry mascarpone. The bacon was delicious! The pan roasted Brussel sprouts arrived next and they were sweet and well charred. The sauce from the strawberry dish was great on the Brussel sprouts. The bones were petite; we’ve had larger at other places for less money. They were accompanied by eight pieces of toasted baguette with shredded pecorino cheese atop. This dish was fine but not special.

Another drink was followed by the Whiskey Flambéed Mushrooms and the Mesquite BBQ flavored Waffle Fries. The mushrooms tasted like escargot; we liked this dish! The fries tasted exactly like BBQ potato chips. I never use ketchup but the Mesquite BBQ powder on the fries made the ketchup taste like BBQ sauce.

We topped off our meal with the Chocolate Stout Bread Pudding. It came with pieces of candied bacon and some kind of clotted cream on top. I don’t like bread pudding but I loved this one.

Final thoughts … I wish we had a larger table to make it easier to place our food and drinks. The food is interesting in a good way. My least favorite dish was the bone marrow; mainly because there wasn’t enough marrow in the petite bones. (I only needed one piece of toast.) And, I wish there were a greater selection of wines. Yes, the name should have told me what kind of...

I have loved Pint & Jigger ever since they were in the original, more casual location in town years ago & I was a bit weary about what I would think about this new location inside The Ala Moana Hotel. So I finally came it was just as great!

I actually think it is even better here and now than the original, just very different ambiance. It is not as casual of a vibe but you can make it that way if you want.

I was happy to experience the same great customer service and to eat the yummy Applewood smoked double cut bacon dish that I loved at the original spot! (So Sorry I didn’t get to take a photo of it since I quickly ate it up Lol)

I usually park on the 2nd or 3rd mall level by Macy’s that lets you access the back side of Ala Moana.

This supernice gastropub spot is great for reservations, group get togethers, birthdays, celebrations, blind dates, regular dates,— & Im sure even secret dates too because it can have some dim romantic lighting & lighting dimness can vary depending where you sit! I went with a group but I see it can be a nice intimate spot to talk with a special trusted friend.

Anywhere I go I’m there for the food so yes this spot hits it! -This bone marrow dish where you spread it on a bread, wow that was so yummy; I never had that anywhere before, I just knew I liked bone marrow. -Of course the double cut smoked bacon I mentioned is also a must try and try -they totally have an amazing burgers I think it’s the stout burger -I really liked how healthy I felt eating the fried pickles because I was eating vegetables Lol -I tried the bbq waffle fries to share & I forgot to order the scotch egg like I used to but I will get it next time!

Of course I’ll be going back since I need to bring my man who loves their varieties of...

Had our second flight cancelled and we got “stuck” Hawaii! Not a bad a place to be stuck. 😂 We of course went on an eating mission for the entire time we were there. If you ever have a cancelled flight, make sure the airline pays for your hotel, taxi, and food vouchers! They might also owe you money just for cancelling more than a few hours. Currently looking into this. 🙂 📍 shimazu shave ice 📍Pipeline Bakeshop & Creamery for lihing malasadas and guava cake bombs. 📍Beer lab for ube beer.
