Piatto Ristorante — Restaurant in Houston

Nothing seems to stay the same these days. I was a patron of this restaurant for quite a few years before leaving Houston about 8 years ago. They had one of the best dishes in town back then. It was their artichoke with lump crab and a butter sauce. I am now able to visit Houston often so I was anxious to go to their newest location and get that dish. It tasted nothing like it did a few years ago. The crab had no flavor and was in small pieces, not the lump crab they served in the past. The sauce had no flavor and the artichoke seemed not to be cooked the same. It was not a bad dish, just a dish I would not order again if I were ever to return. We've been going to Piatto's since 2010 or so (can't remember exactly). Sometimes we went 3 times in a year, sometimes only twice. For us to keep going back should be noted since we live 30 or so miles away, and battling the Galleria area traffic is something I hate doing.

We go there since it's convenient to where our kids work. We like it since it is always clean and the noise level is manageable. Of course, we keep going back because the food is excellent.

I love escargot, and I feel they have the best escargot in Houston. A simple dish, like Italian wedding soup, has been messed up by so many chefs trying to put his/her mark on it. The classic recipe is wonderful, and that's what they do at Piattos.

The host seated us in the corner table with a view of the restaurant perfect, for a party of two, the lighting held the mood, the atmosphere was comfortable, the meal selection was diverse and the quality was impeccable. I ordered the bruchette as a first course, it was full of flavor and aromatic. The pasta vento was my entree, i was worried that it would be overbearing with its rich ingredients but it was perfectly balanced and savory. The chocolate mousse cake was dressed and delicious. The host was helpful and informative. When i told him about my guest's allergy he assured us both she was safe and made us feel comfortable about dining there.
