I recently visited The Honey Drizzle Houston, located at 609 Clay St, Houston, TX 77002, and here's a detailed account of my experience. Date and Time of Visit: I visited the restaurant on May 24, 2024, at 11 am. Ambiance: The ambiance at The Honey Drizzle Houston is fantastic. The decor is inviting, and the atmosphere is enhanced by great music, which was the highlight for me. It sets a pleasant and enjoyable tone for dining. Service: The service, unfortunately, needs improvement. The restaurant was clearly understaffed, with only two servers present, and one of them was also managing the bar. This led to a noticeable lack of attentiveness. While I understand the challenges of being short-staffed, I was disappointed by the slow response for refills. The young lady that was our waitress did a pretty good job for being understaff. Food and Drinks: For appetizers, we had the Chicken Mac Honey Waffle and the Steak and Cheese Eggroll. Both dishes were served promptly and tasted delicious. The presentation was impressive, and the portion sizes were generous. However, the brunch entrees, particularly mine, had issues. I ordered the French Toast Platter, and after a noticeable delay, we had to inquire about it at the bar. Conveniently, the dish was suddenly ready, suggesting it had been sitting under a warmer for some time. While the sides (sausages and potatoes) were hot, the French toast itself was barely warm and burnt on one side. This discrepancy in temperature and the burnt toast significantly detracted from the overall enjoyment of the meal. Cleanliness: The restaurant was clean and well-maintained. The dining area and restrooms(men's) were spotless, which is always a positive aspect. Value for Money: The pricing at The Honey Drizzle Houston is reasonable for certain menu items, particularly the appetizers we tried. However, given the issues with my French Toast Platter, I felt that some dishes might not offer the best value for money. Overall Experience: Despite the service and a few issues with the brunch entrees, I would still recommend giving The Honey Drizzle Houston a try. The appetizers were delicious, and the ambiance is lovely. Just be prepared for potential wait times of 45 minutes to 1.5 hours, especially during busy periods. Constructive Feedback for The Honey Drizzle Houston The Honey Drizzle Houston has the potential to be an exceptional dining destination, but there are a few areas that could benefit from improvement to enhance the overall experience for patrons. 1. Increase Staffing Levels: During my visit, it was evident that the restaurant was understaffed. It appeared there was only one cook in the kitchen, which likely contributed to the delays in food preparation. To ensure timely service, especially during peak hours, having at least three chefs or cooks would be beneficial. This would help expedite food preparation and reduce wait times significantly. 2. Front-of-House Staff: The service experience could be vastly improved with a more robust front-of-house team. Ideally, there should be a dedicated hostess to manage seating and greet guests. This hostess could also double as a waitress if needed. Additionally, having a bartender solely focused on bar service, along with at least two waitresses for the dining area, would ensure that all patrons receive prompt and attentive service. 3. Enhance Entertainment Options: While the music and TV shows provided a pleasant ambiance, offering additional entertainment could greatly improve the waiting experience. Introducing a DJ or MC to entertain guests while they wait could be a fantastic addition. The MC could host games or trivia, with small rewards such as a discount on the bill for the winning table. Providing a pack of cards at each table could also help keep guests engaged and entertained during longer wait times. Final Thoughts: The Honey Drizzle Houston has a lot of potential, and with these improvements, it can provide an outstanding dining experience. I look forward to visiting again and hope to see these changes

The food and drink were acceptable. I had the chicken and Waffles along with a frozen margarita. The 2 chicken tenders were not over cooked (one of them was a little dry but only part of it) and the spicy/sweet sauce that came with it was a nice compliment. The dish doesn't come with a side of syrup apparently because I had to ask for it. It wasn't a regular syrup. It had a flavor to it. Very tasty! They filled the margarita glass to the brim and the flavor of that was tasty as well. HOWEVER, service and wait time was HORRIBLE! I was there well over 5 minutes before catching anyone eye about sitting down. Then another 5+ minutes before anyone acknowledged that I might want to order something. But that was just an acknowledgement. It still took time to have someone come bring water and take my order. When I finally wanted my check I had to flag down a different staff person to ask if I could please get my check because I'd watched the gentleman who should have brought it walk by me SEVERAL times with and without orders in his hands after I'd asked for my bill. That was UNACCEPTABLE. Yes, it was busy, but I watched the other waitstaff close out table after table. Bringing my bill should not have taken so long. Greeting and taking my order should not have taken SO long. Even though you're busy or may be arranging tables for a large group, it doesn't take that much effort to shout out, " Welcome in! Someone will be with you shortly " That goes a long way. I was there to support a friend who was a poetry group there that day. The atmosphere and clientele were not my vibe, but the decor was nice and many others enjoyed it. I wouldn't recommend this to my friends or colleagues nor will I return.

I’m only giving the service one star cause the owner/manager dumb “rule”. That a flight of mimosas can only be served when there are two people…. But i can order a pitcher and/or four single mimosas. Soooooo… is it a law (i think not) it’s more like a money grab, and you should be ashamed of yourself!!! You’re lucky the young girl that was my server was so sweet and endearing and the gentlemen in the back was very respectful and honest, when he came and spoke to me. Cause what’s the difference of ordering a pitcher vs a flight?? (And it does not say anything about it being a two person menu item). It’s the same price, and I’m probably getting more in a pitcher and consuming it alone. Smh. I’ll be sure to add this to my places in Houston not to visit anymore. Shame too, cause I’m in town with a group and was going to recommend we all come. *** I came back to edit my review because I was really in shock. In from Atlanta and have had more seasoned food from a food truck. Also, they charged me automated gratuity, when it was only me in my party AND AGAIN none of that was mentioned in the menu or on the wall. All in all … if you’re dining alone DO NOT GO! You have a better chance going to a chain brunch place where there is no hidden prices and made up rules! Edited in response of Business’ Response: What is the actual law? Your menu states an automatic gratuity for parties 5 or more. I wasn’t, seeing that I couldn’t be served a Flight of Mimosas.

My husband took the time to find places for an amazing birthday weekend for me had an itinerary sent out to all my family and friends this was our first stop of the day and let me just say it was a big let down and birthday ruining moment. So the appetizers came out great and the server was happy and helpful. The shift can when our food was about to roll out something happens and you could tell the it was some frustration going on. So my husbands grits came out first and they were cold like they had been sitting a long time and they were super lumpy like oatmeal then my parents eggs came out and the omelette was not cooked and I mean the whites of the egg were running out of the inside the server did ask for my parents to show her and the opens the omelette and all the whites started flowing and my mom picked up some with her fork it was disgusting my chicken and waffles came back and the waffle was burnt and the chicken was not done all the was. Then the sides for one of my guests orders was on my fathers plate because another lady from the back with some short blue shorts on told my dad that the sauce that goes in his omelette was on that plate so that must be his. So one of my guests was sitting waiting on food that was never going to come come to find out the server went to ask about it and she was told it was already at the table and she could see that he had no food. So my husbands grits got sent back and he wanted just some shrimp to replace them the shrimp did not come until after we got our checks about to leave the other guest never got his sides and my parents never got a remake on the omelet they just didn’t want to eat anything anymore. My husbands grits and I ended up paying $130 for food that half of it we couldn’t eat my parents had to call the manager because the food was listed as one price on the menu but they were charged another and when he came out he smelt like weed so strong the whole party was talking about it he just told my parents he will adjust the price because they were having a hard time getting the system to put the right price in this place was definitely not worth the money we were all charged plus the 20% gratuity that probably the server will never see definitely a birthday down the drain I would not recommend I was embarrassed in front of my...

We made a last minute decision to try something “new” on Mother’s Day. Surprisingly they didn’t have a wait and weren’t packed. They have open seating, so we sat ourselves. Someone brought us water right away, but it took another 15 minutes before the waitress came to take our order. When we ordered - we placed our appetizer and entrees at the same time, and was ensured that the appetizer would come out first. ONE HOUR and FIFTEEN minutes later we were told our egg roll appetizer was being plated and almost ready to come out. While the egg rolls were good, they weren’t good enough to have waited over an hour. After we got our appetizers I asked how much longer it would be before our entrees came out. The waitress said “they are about to start on it”.( WTH… start???)The waitress also informed us that they no longer had any grits, which everyone in the party had ordered. This would have been dice to know ONE hour ago when we ordered. At that point I was done… and told the waitress we would NOT be waiting for our food. She went to the back and then came back to us 1-2 minutes later and informed us “they found some grits, and could start them if we wanted to wait”. We proceeded with cancelling our order. -two tables that came in after us had received their food, and there was one other larger group seated that had received their food. There is no reason that the appetizer for our party of 3 took almost 1.5hr and god know how long it would have taken for the entrees. At no point during the wait did we receive an update or refills on our drinks. when we did get the appetizers it was without cutlery and plates. -The AC didn’t work or was turned off, because was hot. they tried to charged us $30 for 3 egg rolls/tip/service fee- needless to say we didn’t pay it. Only good thing I can say is the music was good, and actually helped the time pass. But I will not be back and don’t see how they will survive downtown with this...
