O Kafe - Hamilton Park — Restaurant in Jersey City

The café has hit a new low by responding to my review with blatant lies. I’m honestly shocked. They never check anything! There are never any service animals there - people just walk in straight from the park with their dogs. We used to visit this café often, and I’m appalled by how shamelessly they lied. It’s even more off-putting now. I’ve been there dozens of times and not once have I seen them ask whether a dog is a service animal. Absolutely disgusting to get a lies as an answer.

This place is always swarming with dogs. They’ve put up a sign on the wall claiming dogs aren’t allowed according to the law - clearly just for show. I’ve never seen so many dogs in any other café. It’s honestly disgusting. My children have allergies to pet dander, and I can’t even stop by for a simple coffee while walking in the park. Let alone eat there. I’ve lived in the area for a few years and tend to go O Kafe’s competitors because the vibe here just hasn’t been nice when I’ve tried it. I decided to give it another chance and went two times over the past week for a late afternoon coffee. Both visits were at least an hour prior to the posted closing time and both times I was told by two different dudes that the cafe was closing as I took a seat to feed my young daughter a snack. I wasn’t planning to sit all night, skimming wi fi. I just wanted to sit in a cafe where I bought food and drink for 10 - 15 minutes and then get on with my day. O Kafe is hands down one of the best coffee spots around! The staff here are absolutely amazing--they always greet you with a warm smile and genuinely make you feel welcome, especially Mike! (and the african-american gentleman too!) One of the most impressive things is how they remember regulars' coffee orders, adding such a personal touch to every visit. On top of that, the coffee is consistently excellent! It's always perfectly made. It's rare to find a place that combines great service with great coffee, but O Kafe nails it every time.
