RECOMMEND MAKING RESERVATIONS DURING COVID!
We decided to treat ourselves after an arduous day, so we went to Bonefish, but hadn't considered making reservations since it was a spur-of-the-moment decision. As we pulled up, there were several people standing in the parking lot in front of the establishment, waiting for tables or to check in. The wait was 1.5 hrs, but they took my cell number to text once our table would be ready, then they sent a message requesting we wait in our car (we went window shopping nearby instead, and appreciated the text so we knew they got my number down correctly).
We returned about 5-10 min before they were going to message me, and I was surprised that the hostess remembered my name, considering so much time had passed and so many patrons had checked in within that time!
We were seated in the outdoor tent, and passed a few heaters that were blowing in warm air at the bottom vents of tent canvas. My phone said it was mid-50s, but even in a spaghetti strapped dress, I was plenty comfortable! The tent also trapped all of the delicious scents in, so we were starving by the time our waiter greeted us!
He brought our drinks, then complementary bread with pesto / olive oil for dipping (so good), then my cup of soup: Lobster Corn Chowder (which was just kind of ok..).
For our meals, I got the Steak & Crab Cake (see photo) and my bf got the Filet Mignon, both of us got the garlic mashed potatoes, but he got to sautéed spinach (which he said were only flavorful on the top, but just tasted like spinach after the top was eaten) and I got the green beans (which were a little more crisp than I'd prefer; not raw, but not far from it).
My apologies for seeming over-critical, it was a delicious meal! That being said, SPLURGE ON THE FILET MIGNON!! Usually, in other restaurants, it seems like the Filet Mignon isn't much different from a good cut of steak... but at Bonefish, it's a WORLD of difference! It is like butter with how tender it is, and makes the regular steak seem like a leather shoe, but comparison!! I regret not doing the $8.50 upcharge from Steak to the Filet Mignon! My greatest wish with the menu would be to have the option for the Shrimp (from the Scallops & Shrimp meal) and the Filet Mignon, together. Please tell me I could get this next time around? That would...
Read moreI took my girlfriend out to BFG because I had a gift card and wanted fish. Upon entering we entered the bar area with a bit of hesitation as you have it further to walk to the hostess stand. We were greeted and sat promptly. We were asked about drinks in a decent amount of time. When they came out, the server hurriedly thrpugh them on the table, hands still wet sprtizing me with water. The bread and oil were the best part of our dinner. We were well ready to order for about 5 minutes before we saw our server again. I ordered the Margarita Sea Bass and my girlfriend ordered the Rainbow Trout. The Seabass was dry on the ouside and over well done on the inside. The char taste was fine, but the Margarita sauce was like a reduced frozen margarita mix that you would get on The Strip. It was as if they went to a $1.50/scoop restaurant and ask them to make a Margarita sauce. Woth the Jasmine rice, it was a gagging experience. The meal also came with large asparagus which were cooked fine, but lacked any semblance of seasoning. There was salt amd pepper at the table, but the Margarita sauce was in the bottom and ruined the taste of everything on the plate. The rainbow trout was a fried butterfly filet. The skin was on but cooled in a way that had a rubbery texture instead of a crisp texture. It also was a minefield of bones in the worst kind of way. It was deboned enough to not know you had to be careful, but not well enough that you could eat it with out being forced to pull bones out as you chew. The server asked how things wereand we told him olay. He offered to make something else, but it didn't appear there were any standards of what was being sent out of the kitchen. So, we declined. The meal in total was about $75 with tax. The auto calculations for a tip have ypu tipping on the tax as well. Overall, the price to qaulity is not even in the same ballpark. You have a restaurant marketed and priced as the New York Yankees, but the product of the Rockies. A nice vibe, but you don't go with expectations. I will not be returning to this location, but figured I would give my feedback in hopes some one has enough pride...
Read moreSO TIRED OF SENDING EVERYTHING BACK. I've been a Bonefish fan and regular customer for a long time, but tonight's experience was probably the worst. I ordered the Cod Imperial with a house salad with blue cheese crumbles and extra olives, and french fries "plated separately" so they didn't get soggy from the fish. The salad came with the dressing on the side. I asked our waitress/bartender if she specified that and she said no and sent it back to be done correctly. Then it came back tossed with the dressing, but no olives. I didn't have to send it back, as they just brought some olives. Enough already. Then comes the Cod Imperial (the only part of the meal that was done correctly and very good) with the fries on the same plate. Well, of course, some were soggy so I sent it back. And of course, they simply scraped the fries off onto a separate plate and sent them back to me. Again, I informed the waitress/bartender and she took them away, and then brought me a fresh order of french fries that were clearly overcooked. By this time, I was so tired of having to send everything back that I ate a few, left the rest and resigned myself to avoid going back. When you pay Bonefish prices, you kind of, sort of, expect things to be done correctly. To top it all off, I gave the waitress bartender my phone number and told her to use the reward ($40) and then gave her a gift card I purchased to pay the balance. Duh? she didn't use the reward -- which expires in June -- but used the gift card, threw it in the trash, and then told me I owed more on the bill. Fortunately, she was able to dig the gift card out of the trash and correct her mistake. I don't know how I could have been any clearer as to using the rewards -- which have a time limit -- versus the gift cards which don't have a time limit. Sooooo disappointed in so many different ways. First time ever I left $0 tip. Horrendous service by kitchen staff, bar/wait staff, and...
